Danger lurks in every corner in bestselling author Lynette Eason’s spine-chilling story in the Fitzgerald Bay series
Everyone in Fitzgerald Bay—except his law-enforcement family—is convinced Charles Fitzgerald murdered his children’s nanny. Condemned by public opinion, his only hope for a replacement nanny to take care of his two-year-old twins is newcomer Demi Taylor. But Demi has problems of her own…starting with amnesia. She doesn’t remember who she is, doesn’t know where she’s from—and has no idea why she always feels like someone is watching her. Is she in danger because of Charles? Or has someone sinister from her old life found her yet again?
My Review:
published in 2012
Woohoo — this was a blast from my reading past. An early Lynette Eason novel, among the first that I read by her — and they just released an audio edition so, of course, I couldn’t resist. Especially not after listening to the sample! What a way to leave a reader hanging! Here’s my review from back in the day:
Prepare yourself for a nail-biting read. The action is fast, the suspense thick and the romance exciting — all the markers of a runaway best-seller. Eason barely gives her readers a chance to catch their breath before she hits them with another tense scene and then another and another. It is so full of cliffhangers it’s a wonder I have any nails left at all! And yet, in classic Eason style, she has successfully woven an credible love story into the suspense threads, which makes this a dream of a read for a romantic suspense lover like me!
I read this whole series when it first came out and remember Lynette’s book being a standout. How you have time to revisit all the retro reads is a mystery to me, I have some I’d like to reread but then all the shiny new books are looking at me begging for attention, lol.
I’m reading Snowbound Secrets by Cate Nolan in the Guideposts Blackberry Valley mystery series this afternoon after the chores are caught up. Happy reading Friday!

I think this series was my introduction to LIS continuity series. This one is such Vintage Eason – I loved it all over again. And yes, it really wasn’t in my plans to revisit this book but then I made the mistake of listening to the sample and I was hooked. So mood read me strikes again and sends my planned TBR toppling again! 🙂
Excited to hear that Cate Nolan is writing for Guideposts! I really miss her LIS and I thought she had stopped writing altogether. That was the same with Sandra Orchard – went from LIS to Guidepost mysteries. I’m assuming you don’t have to read that series in order? Because Snowbound Secrets is way later in the series. And from what I could get from the blurbs of the first book Hannah isn’t married but in this one she’s a newlywed. I guess the relationship growth is what I’d miss if I tried to jump into the series with a Cate Nolan book. Lots of fave authors in this series though. I’m surprised by the number of names I recognized. Happy Reading, Tracey!

I started this series because I wanted to read An Unlikely Story by Roseanna White, but it was book 4 and I wasn’t sure about feeling lost. So, I read Laura Bradford’s book 1, Where There’s Smoke to get my bearings. It was a great cozy mystery, but wanting to read Roseanna’s book, I jumped from book 1 to book 4, then just kept going. I have skipped 5 of the 20, but after the first book it really doesn’t matter. There is a progression of life for the main character Hannah Prentiss, going from moving back to her hometown from her restaurant work in L.A, and opening up her own restaurant, called The Hot Spot to getting a fire chief boyfriend, Liam Berthold. Most of the mysteries are solved by her and her best friend Lacy. But even then, just knowing the background story would be enough because each mystery stands on its own.
There are 2 more books in the series, and I don’t know if it’ll go beyond that, but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed them. Cate wrote 2 of these besides #20, the other one I read was so good, The Mandolin Mystery. Out of the 15 I’ve read, 10 are 5 star and the others 4 stars, but still good reads. (I’m getting stingy with my 5 stars, haha)
Looks like Cate went straight from her last LIS in Nov/24 to her first in this series in Sept/25. She’s also in A Gift Shop Mystery series. I’m considering reading that one too. Book 7, No Good Deed and book 16, Dishing Up Trouble, so no worries about her stopping writing 🙂

I really enjoyed Laura Bradfords’ Dessert Squad mysteries and Amish mysteries series so I think I’ll have to hunt down the first book in this series and go from there. Interesting that she doesn’t list her Guidepost books on her website. I will have to check into Cate Nolan as well. Thanks for the inside scoop, Tracey…um, especially about the fire fighter boyfriend. 🙂

Thank you for the reminder of a fabulous book that has slipped through the pages of my TBR list way too long. Always very much enjoy this author’s book and know I’d love this one too.
Have a fabulous Friday that slips into a fun weekend full of the great outdoors and lots of reading time.
