Quarterly reading goal reviews have become a Best Reads Blog tradition and I can’t believe we’ve reached the half way point already! Where does the time go, I wonder? Hours spent reading I’m guessing
I’ll share my progress (or not!) here just for some fun book nerdy stats and, if you’re so inclined, you can share a goal or two in the comments. But no pressure – a goal can be as simple as ‘read a book.’
So, to enter this giveaway, just share anything goal related in the comments. Then, in the same comment, list a book that will help you reach your goal. So it looks like this:
“I want to catch up on some suspense series. Night Prey by Susan Sleeman.”
NOTE: BOOKS MUST BE CHRISTIAN FICTION OR CLOSED DOOR
You can enter up to three times in three separate comments — and you can use the same goal or a different one each time, but a different title for each entry.
Books can be published any time up to and including September 2026. Currently published books will be ordered this coming week for winners, otherwise it will be an IOU for a title releasing later.
WINNER’S CHOICE OF PAPERBACK OR EBOOK FOR US AND CANADIAN ENTRIES. EBOOKS ONLY FOR INTERNATIONAL READERS WHO HAVE A US KINDLE ACCOUNT.
See? Easy Peasy. But if you’re still not clear, don’t be shy about asking questions.
Here we go! We’re at the halfway point and it’s time to face up to what’s been working and what hasn’t when it comes to my goals this year.

I haven’t been focusing on two of my other author goals – 1) authors I’m keeping current with, and 2) read to zero authors.
I have only listed two keep current authors (and I am up to date with them) but I think I might just scrap this goal for the year and organize it better for 2027.
I’m having some success with the read to zero authors only I chose prolific writers and have quite the catching up to do. I’m really close with Hannah Linder, just have one book left to read, The Red Cottage. The other authors on my list: Sara Davison (15 left), Anna Conwell (4 left), Irene Hannon (9 of her Encore novels left), Gracie Ruth Mitchell (11 left), Toni Shiloh (17ish – a lot of these are from her early backlist and I’m still figuring out what’s available in print. I think some of the novella collections are ebook only), Courtney Walsh (9 books), Eryn Scott (32 books!)

I’m more or less on track with my 26 in 26 goals though I have only read four books this past quarter. I have twelve to go and I own almost all of the books or can borrow them from my library so I just need to apply my mood reading whims to this list! 🙂
Serious About Series – this goal has been a little less structured than I usually do. I have nineteen series on the list and am caught up with nine of them and am making progress on six more. Some are really long series – 10-20 books – so I’m not sure if I will manage to complete them all by the end of the year, but I’m gonna try!
WINNERS ANNOUNCED ON
Saturday July 25 29 2026
I’ve been listening to a lot more audiobooks than I used to, which has been good. My husband and I got into the habit of listening together before bed, which is not only a pleasant way to end the day, but helps reduce screen time right before bed. Win win!

Ooooh, yeeessssss, I have that Melissa Tagg book waiting for me to get to it. I have such a demanding TBR pile now that they are unboxed. Choruses of ‘read me!’ plague me all day. 🙂 Good luck, Rachel!

My #1 goal would be to conquer my TBR list but afraid that isn’t going to happen! So. reading a new Tamera Alexander book is definitely another goal. It’s been awhile but she has a new historical fiction, In These Hills,, releasing Sept. 8th.

This may not be a goal but it’s certainly a tradition to read Melody Carlson’s annual Christmas book! We Wish You a Messy Christmas releases Sept. 1.

Most of my reading centers around my two favorite genres, romantic suspense and historical fiction., I am making it a goal to read more contemporary fiction and also try new-to-me authors.
Releasing August 4th, The Roman Holiday Rule by Andra Loy meets both of these guidelines! I hope it’s allowed because It isn’t labeled Christian fiction but Amazon lists it as clean and wholesome romance, and it’s published by Haven, an imprint of Baker Publishing.

Oohhhh, you’ve added a title that hasn’t been mentioned before — Melody Carlson’s Christmas book. She definitely has a tradition of releasing one every year! Good luck, Connie!

One of my goals is to read 50 of the books that I own on my physical bookshelves, and I am doing pretty good…I am on books 34 & 35. Another is to finish some series. I didn’t have a specific goal, but did want to hit 15, and I have. I have finished 16 of my previously started series. So, a book that I keep trying to get my hands on for this goal is Honeysuckle Breeze by B.R. Goodwin 😉 I see it is on your 26 in 26 list, and I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it. Thanks for the opportunity. cilydav at hotmail dot com

Another book that will help me with my goal of completing series is: D is for Daisy by Shelley Shepard Gray.

One other goal I have is reading more new to me authors. One I keep meaning to try is Cassandra Joelle. I think I would like to try A Weather Girl’s Guide to Love. Thanks for the opportunity, Kav! Have a great week!

You are acing those goals, Cindy! And yes, I have a copy of Honeysuckle Breeze, I just have to read it now and it sounds like a good summery book, doesn’t it? I just picked up C is for Courting at my new library. Very encouraging visit — well two already because I’m that kind of eager patron. 🙂 On both visits I’ve spotted Christian Fiction in multiple areas — new books, large print, mystery, general fiction. How cool is that? I was just browsing the shelves getting acquainted with the new library and these books kept leaping out at me so, of course, I had to bring them home – even a couple that I’ve already read because we need to keep the stats up. 🙂 Good luck, Cindy!
