Hello May + Giveaway

It’s a Best Reads blog tradition! Celebrating the month’s new releases the first week of each month.

Because I recently discovered that a book’s success or failure is often determined by first month sales! (Though I bet preorders play into that as well.) Publishing houses look at those stats to determine whether they’ll add on to a series or accept the author’s next manuscript! All that literary goodness hanging in the balance but for a month’s worth of sales! (This was a cozy mystery author, but I imagine all traditional publishers use the same ‘system’.) So I thought I should do my wee little bit to promote Christian Fiction.

By hosting a special ‘Hello – insert month’ giveaway. It’s easy to play along. You just have to choose ONE of the May 2026 new releases on your TBR wishlist (must be Christian Fiction) and mention the title in a comment below (or email me at kavluvstoreadATyahooDOTca) If your name is drawn, that May release is the book you will win and we’re one book closer to keeping our fave authors in business.

  1. Good morning, Kav! And hello May. I hope you’re nicer to me than Apr was & I’ll just leave it there. Ugh!

The main book I wanted to read in May I couldn’t resist pre-ordering when I saw the paperback on sale with 40% off & free shipping on Baker Book House! And that was Chase the Light by Suzanne Woods Fisher! So I’ll go with an indie author I’ve enjoyed.

    Sapphire Island by Creston Mapes

Thanks, Kav! I hope your moving is coming along smoothly! dianalflowers at aol dot com

    1. I hope that May is better to you too! You are in my prayers, Diane. You’ll have to tell me how love triangle-y Chase the Light is before I get brave and try it. 🙂 Creston Mapes is a new-to-me author still, I know you and a few others have praised his books so he’s on my radar. Good luck!

      1. Thanks for your prayers, Kav. I had another get up at 5:00 AM. Went to Amazon to see what I could find for pain & healing that had the highest amount of stars. Praying it works!

I def will let you know about the LT. Oh, guess what! I got an email that said it’ll be here today!! And it doesn’t release until the 5th! Can’t wait til my mail comes! 📭 Was going to start the book I won on RCW (Of Flaw & Scorn), so I may have to do an eeny meeny miny moe! Oh what a dilemma. 😉

I’ll go with my other choice. A Brewed Awakening by Pepper Basham.

    1. We have daffodils in bloom in some sunny areas right now and I have a little patch of tulips that always come up every year but the squirrels chomp off the flowers so I never have any blooms. 🙂 And for some reason the squirrels to mess with any of my neighbour’s tulips so I don’t know what’s up with them targeting my garden. Grrrr. Good luck, Sandy!

  16. Happy May!  I honestly didn’t realize that today was the first.  Yikes! I’ve been enjoying some fun times with my extended family.

I’m going to go with Silent Menace by Angela Carlisle because it sounds really good and the library doesn’t have it on order.  I’ve not had the pleasure of reading any of her books yet.  I hope starting with book three of this series is not a bad idea?

    1. Hooray for family time! I’ve read the first two books and I don’t think it’s a series that needs to be read in order. Much like Irene Hannon, Lynette Eason etc. Good luck, Perrianne!
