Hello February + Giveaway

It’s a Best Reads blog tradition! Celebrating the month’s new releases the first week of each month.

Because I recently discovered that a book’s success or failure is often determined by first month sales! (Though I bet preorders play into that as well.) Publishing houses look at those stats to determine whether they’ll add on to a series or accept the author’s next manuscript! All that literary goodness hanging in the balance but for a month’s worth of sales! (This was a cozy mystery author, but I imagine all traditional publishers use the same ‘system’.) So I thought I should do my wee little bit to promote Christian Fiction.

By hosting a special ‘Hello – insert month’ giveaway. It’s easy to play along. You just have to choose ONE of the February 2026 new releases on your TBR wishlist (must be Christian Fiction) and mention the title in a comment below (or email me at kavluvstoreadATyahooDOTca) If your name is drawn, that February release is the book you will win and we’re one book closer to keeping our fave authors in business.

    1. I am almost caught with Karen Witemeyer’s books, I think. Just have a Christmas one to read so I definitely want to read Taming Lady Temperance sooner than later so I don’t fall behind. Good luck, Tracey!

  1. I’d love to read Deadly Currents by Elizabeth Goddard. That would finish up the Hidden Bay series for me.

  4. I’m looking forward to reading Marrying the Matchmaker by Jody Hedlund. I really love the matchmaker himself and hope that this heroine is worthy of him. It’s disappointing when a hero has been built up over several books and then when his book comes out, they pair him with an annoying woman. That has happened several times when I have been reading. I spend the book saying, “Lady, you don’t deserve this guy.”

      1. Bwahahaha! I love your opinion piece on heroes we grow to love over the course of a series and then, when it’s finally their turn for a happily every after, we’re on tenterhooks worrying about whether we’ll approve of his match! Yikes, the pressure! Good luck, Sylvia!

    1. You are in for a treat! That book was one of my TOP reads last year (I read the arc) and it was my first one I read in that series. You MUST read it! My goodness it was over 5 stars for me.

  5. Hello February! Let’s hope the harsh Arctic weather fronts and respiratory bugs will lessen! There seem to be a number of interesting releases this month. It appears a number of us are looking forward to a new Karen Witemeyer series with Taming Lady Temperance.

    1. Sigh…that was my fault. I made the post weeks ago and forgot to set the time to midnight so it wouldn’t have gone up until 11 this morning but I realized I’d goofed when I woke up so got it posted a bit earlier. Oopssss. Guess what I’m going to be listening to next? Because someone goaded me into buying it on release day. 🙂 Good luck, Diane!

      1. No problem. You’ve had a lot on your mind lately and being sick doesn’t help. Who would do such a thing as to goad you into buying a book that looks and sounds absolutely wonderful? I can’t even imagine who’d do such a dastardly deed. 😜🙈

  8. Hello February! Woohoo —Sarah Sundin, Karen Witemeyer, Sarah E. Ladd, Jody Hedlund, & Michelle Griep all releasing books this month!!! It might as well be Christmas instead of nearly Valentine’s Day. 😁 I would pick “The Bird of Bedford Manor” by Michelle Griep

  9. Many great choices but I have my eye on Operation Scarlet by Rachel McMillan. This historical WWII novel releases Feb. 17 and sounds so good!

  10. Hello February! And Punxsutawney Phil predicted six more weeks of winter…boo!

That being said, here on the Oregon coast we’ve had such a weird winter so far. Not much rain & warmer than normal temps….like part of this week is suppose to be in the low 60’s. So odd for our area! I feel really bad for people who’ve had to deal with bitterly cold temps & a ton of snow lately….especially in States that don’t get that at all or rarely (I’m thinking of you Diane).

Anyway, one book I’m really looking forward to getting a hold of is:

If You’ll Have Me by Esther Hatch (February 3rd)

P.S. I just received my pre-order copy of Jody Hedlund’s “Marrying the Matchmaker” in the mail today!!! Whoohooo!! Now the question is, do I devour it now or do I savor it for a few days & then dive in?? I already hate to see it end LOL!

    1. That’s a tough decision, Trixi! To read or to anticipate a read? And once you start reading will you be able to draw it out or will you gobble it all up in one go? lol We’ve definitely had a snowier and colder winter than we’ve had in a few years. Not sure what our groundhog predicted. Mostly spring doesn’t come here until well into April so….Good luck, Trixi!

  11. Yay for February, I have never been so happy to roll into a new month. How are you feeling? Hopefully, better! There are so many great books coming out this month, I was going to go with Jaime Jo Wright’s Young adult novel, but I know it’s marked as clean, but didn’t know if it is Christian. So, I will go with The Not So Neutral Zone by Susan May Warren, releasing 2/24. Thanks for the opportunity and continue to get to feeling better!

    1. I’m still yucky — think it’s turned into bronchitis. 😦 I picked good weather to hibernate through, though. It’s been wicked cold. I didn’t realize that Jaime Jo Wright has written a YA book! That’s an interesting twist. That Susan May Warren book sounds really good, even though it’s….gasp…sports related. Good luck, Cindy!

      1. Oh no, that’s what my crud did in September, I was sick for a month! Praying you are better soon. And, I am ALL up in Jaime’s business, LOL! I don’t want to miss a thing. Pepper Basham is writing one as well!

  13. It’s so cold, I’d like to go into hibernation with warm blankets, books, and lots of free time. For February, I’d chose As Sure as the Stars by Jennie K. Drollinger and Tricia Goyer. I haven’t heard much about it, but if it’s by Tricia Goyer… it’s got to be good!

  15. How is it February already?! I’m happy we’re just that much closer to spring (I hope)! I’d like to try A Royal Request by Paige Edwards. It looks so interesting, it’s set in Scotland, and it’s a mystery/suspense. I haven’t read anything by her yet, but the premises always look intriguing.
    Thanks so much!
