Reader’s Choice Week Giveaway – Winter 2026 – Goals in Review

Overall, I’m pleased with how much I accomplished with my Author Goals – with the exception of my Read-to-Zero goals. I did make some progress with two of the authors on my list, Hannah Linder (2 left to read!) and Annah Conwell (I’m a little more than halfway through her books.) but otherwise I really didn’t make any headway. Something to think about for 2026 (ack, that’s this year!)

As far as book goals — I accomplished what I set out to do with diverse settings and diverse characters and I hope to increase that in 2026. I even exceeded my Non-Fiction goal! (gasp!) Where I epically failed, er, majorly kafuffled, was with the targeted series I wanted to catch up with or keep current with. I was really haphazard with my tracking and didn’t include a lot of the series I did complete (though they weren’t on my targeted list.) I did manage to complete 8 series out of 15 of the ones I had picked for this goal. I need to be more organized in 2026!

I had made goals for both upgrading this blog and getting more savvy on Instagram and those were dismal failures as well! Ah well, there’s always next year, right? 🙂

    1. That’s strange about Good Reads. I found it really sluggy the last week or so — I guess from all the data collecting? And maybe people rushing to add last minute books. So maybe there was a lag with tabulating your numbers? Who knows? I keep track in a book as well so I have a back up ’cause I’m nerdy like that. 🙂 Good luck, Paula!

  1. My goal for all of my choices in this category is kind of a hodgepodge of wanting to read more fantasy/fairytale books in the coming year (I veered more into historical in 2025) and to read more lesser-known/indie authors! (My sister and I have been really searching out the smaller-named authors this past month or so and are SO excited with the treasures that we’ve been able to dig up so far🤩)

  5. My goal in 2025 was to read 115 books. I did not make that goal so I’ve lowered my 2026 goal to 100. I’m getting older and slower with my reading physical and ebooks.

The Way Home by Heidi Chiavaroli is a book that I didn’t get to last year that would help me meet this year’s goal.

  6. Last year I participated in a book club and Karen Witemeyer’s Posse book challenge and completed the reading for both. The Classics online book club was discontinued after nine months. Some of these books were more of a challenge for me to read (not my usual interest) but I only gave up on one.

I’ll participate again with my local book club and the Posse challlenge.

A book that is on our book club list is Love in the Castle Library by Ann Swindell.

  7. I signed up for an online Christian Fiction Reading Challenge for this year. We’ll see if I can keep up with three “have to read” books for book club and two challenges, plus have time to read a few “just for fun” books each month.

To Win a Crown by Rachel Hauck is a book on the Christian Fiction Reading Challenge.

    1. Nothing wrong with adapting goals as life changes. I’m reading more than every mostly because I live alone and it’s either read or talk to myself and I’m not that interesting! Bwahahaha! Good luck, Pam!

  8. I think that my goals haven’t really changed much or been met.  I’m still working on my read to zero authors but have only made a little progress there.  I’m just reading so SLOW these days!   Frustrating!  So my First Choice: Deadly Currents by Elizabeth Goddard because I can at least finish her Hidden Bay series.

  9. Distractions, such as reading lots of Christmas books this year (not my usual habit).  I read a preview of my Second Choice: Under the Mistletoe by Tari Faris and Susan May Warren.  How could I pass up this cute one written by this dynamic duo?

  10. Because I own the rest of the series, I need to finish it.  Third Choice: Spy of Richmond by Jocelyn Green

  11. I didn’t meet any reading goals in 2025 and I’m sure sad about it. A lot of mental health and physical health problems just had me not even wanting to pick up a book. But I’m hopeful that won’t happen in 2026! Even so, I’m being gentle and giving myself the goal of only 26 books in 2026.

    1. Absolutely be gentle. No goals are just as valid as goals. Everybody’s life looks different and we all go through seasons of change that can affect so many aspects of our lives. Praying for a better year for you, Lea. Good luck!

  12. Kav, I love that you include reading goals in RC weeks. One book that would hit two goals for me is My Beloved by Jan Karon – a bestseller and also a book high on my list.

  13. Gabrielle Meyer’s The Fur Trader’s Lady would help me with my new-to-me author goal.

  14. You did great with your goals, Kav! I think I finished 17 series this past year, hit my reading goal, and ended up dropping most of the reading challenges I was doing. Happy weekend!
