December Giveaway – Week One

Winners will be contacted if they left their email address, otherwise it’s up to the winner to contact me at kavluvstoread AT yahoo DOT ca (please note it’s ca as in Canada, not com.) From time to time a winner and I do not connect so I have a one month time frame on giveaway wins. If I haven’t been able to reach you within 30 days of your win, it will be forfeited. This has happened a few times now, so please, DON’T BE SHY β€” CONTACT ME IF YOU DIDN’T LEAVE AN EMAIL OR IF I HAVEN’T BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN REACHING YOU!

LOOKING AHEAD TO NEXT WEEK:

No Conversations with Kav this Sunday. Tomorrow is the kind of overbooked seasonal day that happens from time to time. I have church in the morning, a friend visiting from out of town in the afternoon, a Carol Concert early evening followed by a potluck so….not only won’t I be around most of the day, I’ll be too addlepated from all the fesitivies to make much sense anyway!

HOWEVER

You might notice a theme in the book reviews this coming week. I blame it on reading ‘The Heart of Bennet Hollow’ several weeks ago which triggered a craving for more retellings, fairy tale or otherwise, which sent me on a hunt and even re-reading a bunch which then led me to thinking it would be fun to do a whole week’s worth of Retelling / Reimagining novels and here we are…with several more books to spare. So, this week there will be a giveaway for every book, Monday – Friday, just remember to check edition availabilities for each book.

  1. Woohoo! Thank you! πŸ’– Congrats to the rest of the winners!

Kav, I got tickled at your cravings after reading The Heart of Bennet Hollow bc I had them as well! Only I wanted to read anything Jane Austen-ish. lol I read Sense & Suitability, Whispers at Painswick Court, and have Not Exactly Mr Darcy on my “want to read” list. What’s up with that? I’m just thankful the plot to Bennet Hollow wasn’t about food! Those cravings I definitely don’t need! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜„ I’ve read 3 out of 5 of your book reviews for next week & the other 2 I’ll be sure to check out!

      1. Funny how one book can pivot a reader in a totally different direction. πŸ™‚ And eeepppp — I just this minute got notification that Not Exactly Mr Darcy has come in at the bookstore. It’s blizzardingx out though and I’m wondering if I can make it there and back before we drop into the the -20s again. Do I have the patience to wait until Monday or Tuesday? Decisions. Decisions. Happy Reading, Diane!

    1. We had company & I couldn’t respond earlier, so by now my advice is probably not needed. But I was going to say stay home & don’t go out in that freezing cold & wait till Tues! {{{brrr}}} Tomorrow is going to be so busy for you, you won’t have time to read anyway. Not much anyway. 😘

      1. I totally understand that about the pain levels after. And for me the fatigue can be debilitating, too. I’m praying for you now that the Lord will strengthen you, help you, and you won’t need down time on Mon bc of pain levels! πŸ™ And be able to pick up your book at the bookstore, that is if you haven’t already! πŸ˜‰

      2. Thanks, Diane. I didn’t muster up the oomph to go out after my book. I’d already done a big hike earlier in the afternoon before the temps started to dip so I decided to stay home and do housework and pace a lot to make up my step count. πŸ™‚

      3. Kav, so glad you decided not to go! It’ll be waiting for you when you get there. I do extra housework for exercise, too, but I can honestly say I don’t do hikes w/ this chronic dizziness. I’m a mess right now, but I’m God’s mess. πŸ˜… Proud of you for always giving it 100%!

  2. Yayyyy! I see I won The Masterpiece! The synopsis of that one sounded AMAZING, I am SO excited for this win. And oddly I haven’t read any books by her. I am only familiar with her books because so many are on my tbr. Thank you SO much!

  3. Happy reading book winners!

I hope you enjoy all the holiday fun tomorrow. It’s a busy day for me too Kav, I made a carrot cake today for my daughter’s birthday we are celebrating tomorrow. She’s my Christmas baby born on the 25th in 1978, we always have a separate party for her, so she doesn’t get lost in the busyness of Christmas day. I named her Noelle πŸ™‚ When she was little, she always told people Jesus was the first Noel and she was the second, kids are so funny.

    1. Bwahahaha! “When she was little, she always told people Jesus was the first Noel and she was the second” — that is so cute! So you have an actual Christmas baby! Love that you intentionally celebrate her birthday on a different day so she’s not lost in all the festive hoopla! Now you have me thinking about carrot cake. Yum. Have fun tomorrow, Tracey. And happy reading (when you can fit it in.)

    2. Early Happy B’day to your daughter, Tracey! πŸ₯³ My son’s is soon & he loves carrot cake, too! Mine’s on Dec 20 & since kids/gkids live 40 mins away they visit Christmas Eve & combine my b’day then. Hubby invites a few friends over & gets me a cake & refreshments on the day, so it doesn’t get overlooked bc of Christmas. Isn’t he a swoony hero? 😁
