The Confidentiality Clause

My best friend’s brother needs help. And not just because he’s the most annoying man on the face of the earth.

Brock Jones is the definition of a workaholic. He’s constantly on his phone and barely leaves his office.

This makes everyone who loves him worry—namely, his twin and my best friend, Sutton.

She sends me to check on him, and I find out he’s worse off than anyone thinks.

He begs me not to tell Sutton his secret. I agree, but on one he lets me help him out of this mess.

Now we’re spending more time together than ever before, and my big, dumb heart is starting to fall for him.

Which can’t happen, because I need someone who’s husband material, and Brock has already said til death do us part to his job.

The Confidentiality Clause is a best friend’s brother romcom with tons of banter! It has all the sizzling chemistry you love, without the explicit scenes. Check out the fifth and final book in the More Than a Game series, a series based around four professional athletes and their agent.

My Review:

Eeeeepppp!!! I’ve been waiting for Brock’s story. ‘The Confidentiality Clause’ is the fifth book in Annah Conwell’s ‘More Than a Game’ series, though it can certainly be read as a standalone novel. I love the continuity with the guy friend group and the lovely series epilogue at the end of this last book. Such a treat for series fans!

And what an epic grand finale for the series. Ariel and Brock are…well, not exactly each other’s idea of a love match, that’s for sure! Their snarky banter is so well written. Enough snark to keep me chuckling without making it seem mean-spirited. These two have a kind of love/hate relationship from the start. Definitely opposites attract and Brock is such a grumpy workaholic that I despaired of him ever loosening up. But I hadn’t bargained on Ariel’s free-spirited determination to shake his life up a bit – for good, of course!

Conwell’s writing is smart and snappy and full of wit which makes it easy to breeze through the story. But she also excels at creating characters with emotional depth, grappling with real struggles as they try to come to grips with the kind of stuff readers can relate to. And that combination – comedy and drama – is what makes this book so riveting.

I listened to the audio edition of ‘The Confidentiality Clause’ narrated by Chelsea Kwoka and JD Tomlinson and loved every second of it! I’m finding that I really enjoy dual narrators, especially for a rom/com and these performers delivered both the humour and all the emotion perfectly. They really enhanced my listening pleasure.

My thanks to Dreamscape Media and Net Galley for providing me with an audio copy of this book.

    1. Annah Conwell is on my read to zero list for her banter alone! So much fun! She’s a recent discovery of mine and I haven’t met a book I didn’t love so far. Hope you get to read something by her soon. Happy Reading, Angie!

  2. Some authors do banter so well! Even Nancy Mehl’s latest has some witty banter between best friends. Love it!

I sent you an email. I hope you got it bc it’s showing on my phone as it could be a suspicious email (LOL), but on my tablet it shows you got it. Happy weekend!

    1. I agree and Annah Conwell has it downpat for sure in her rom/coms. Haven’t checked my email yet. I’ve been out in the garden. Two more sunny warmish days and then it’s going to rain for a week so I’m trying to get as much done as I can in case that rain decides to turn into snow as the temperatures drop! Happy Reading!

      1. Right now the weather is perfect & I keep telling hubby now is the time to get the weeds pulled & flowers cut back before it turns cold! He hates to do it though bc we’ve still got flowers blooming. Even our shrubs are blooming pretty new fuchsia flowers bc the weather is so spring-like. Hope you can get yours done before 1st snow! I love green grass and pretty flowers But I am so looking forward to winter this year. Hot chocolate by the fireplace and books! And no yard work. Yes!

      2. I think I’ll finish the cutting back part tomorrow. I still have some flowers in bloom – marigolds have gone crazy wild — they look like mums and they are all golds and oranges and burgundy so very fitting for the season. And my cosmos is still blossoming. I didn’t think those annuals would be frost hardy but they’ve survived the few colder nights we’ve had. So this week I’ve been yo-yoing between gardening and reading all day every day. Not looking forward to a straight week of rain but we sure do need it. Mind you….I guess that means more reading for me if I’m not gardening! 🙂

      3. I know what you mean about the marigolds. And we’ve also got some bright yellow gerbera daisies that are popping up and I don’t have the heart to chop them down yet – we’ll just have to go out there and do the deed after the 1st frost. We don’t dare buy any mums for the front porch cuz they’ll die. We’ve still got bright, hot pink geraniums and red geraniums in the front & they still look fine. Hopefully your rain will be just that—rain. And not snow. Just stay in and enjoy reading all next week!

  3. Oh you got my interest up on this book…..and series really! I see they are available through Kindle Unlimited, so I went to Amazon and added them to my “Want-to-read KU” list. Which by the way, is rather looooong! 😊

Thanks for always feeding rather obsessive reading habit Kav! 😂 I love discovering new authors and their books (especially series ones).

    1. Nothing wrong with a rather loooong want to read list as far as I’m concerned (says I as I feed your obsessive reading habit…nothing wrong with that either!) Bwahahaha! Happy Reading, Trixi!

    1. Yay! I can’t decide if this series or the Carter Brothers is my favourite series by her so far. Those are the only two I’ve read…well I have the last Carter Brothers book which will be up next. Just love her mix of humour and emotion…and that banter!!!! Happy Reading, Sandy!

  4. Thank you for your review on THE CONFIENTIALTY CLAUS! Definitely sounds like a set of books I need to read. My TBR list continues to grow – better than my plants I do believe. 🙂

Never got the email today about your post. I had checked from yesterdays post for previous. It finally showed up to get me here. Gremlins are playing with the air waves again I guess. 😦

Don’t even mention that ugly four letter word (snow)! Not ready! Well, we are ahead of schedule and have the garage greenhouse cleaned out and ready, but haven’t had to move plants yet. Way they are talking though that may change before the end of the week.

Thanks again for giving me more “gotta” read books!

    1. That might have been my fault, Kay. I mistakenly scheduled the post to go live at noon instead of midnight. I didn’t notice until around nine this morning. Maybe our evil computer gremlins don’t deal well with change. lol

This is such a fun series. You will love it. Happy Reading!

  5. I’m not entering because I listened to the audio ARC but I loved it for all the same reasons! I won the audiobook before this one from you and I enjoyed this one as well. Now I’m going to listen to the first three on Everand.

    1. I think the audiobooks are the way to go for Annah Conwells novels – she gets the best narrators and I enjoy having both a female and male voice. Happy Reading…er Listening…Tammy!
