  1. Good morning, Kav, and fellow book lovers! It’s been hot & rainy here. No signs of fall yet. Flowers are actually still blooming & confused. I know the feeling. 🙃 I have some Christmas novellas saved on my Kindle for when things start getting crazy, closer to Christmas. Not a big fan of collections although there are some coming out with beautifully, enticing covers!

This is the only one so far I’m really looking forward to unless my book sisters here can help me out! Love Rachel’s books!

    1) About Last Christmas by Rachel Scott McDaniel (Oct 23)

Thanks for this wonderful, fun-filled week, Kav!

    1. We’ve had two frost warning nights so it’s definitely time to think of Christmas reads! About Last Christmas sounds like the perfect holiday read — and for some strange reason I like that illustrated over — very retro without being Disney-ish. Good luck, Diane!

      1. Frost warnings in Sept? Wow! The hummingbirds are still coming in droves, grass is still green, still deadheading flowers. That part is getting tiresome. The only thing that hints of fall is our Crepe Myrtle tree is losing leaves & has stopped blooming. Love Fall reading when it finally decides to cool down!

I really like Rachel’s cover as well. I also think Meet Me at the Christmas Cottage is so pretty for an illustrated cover. The hero almost looks real. I have that one waiting on my Kindle to help get me hyped up for Christmas. Not quite there yet with the warm weather! Thanks, Kav!

      2. I’m tempted read the whole Jonathan Island series. It looks really good! Two frosty nights but now we’re going back to summer temps, even overnight. Mother Nature just can’t make up her mind!

      3. I typed a reply to you twice & both times they flew. aargh! I have 2 of the Jonathan Island series & am looking forward to tryng them. The ebooks are very reasonably priced, not sure about audio or pprbk. And I think most are new to me authors, so that’s a plus.

You’re going back to summer temps? Gasp! Should I take that to mean more battles with wayward Periwinkles? 😅

      4. The periwinkle battle will be never-ending however now I’m tackling a super out of control Stephanandra. bush. It’s lovely and a great filler but it has designs on the entire front yard! The paperbacks are pricey (Jonathan Island) which is a pain when you want to read right through a series like this. I also have my eye on a fun series entered around an apartment building that has it’s own personality and likes to matchmake its tenants. Courtney Walsh has a book in that series. I think it sounds fun!

      5. You’ve got me googling all over the place. LOL! I googled Stephanandra bushes 1st. Very pretty, but looks like they’d be hard to manage by summer’s end. Kinda looking forward to 1st frost bc my periwinkles are spilling out of my flower bed onto the grass.

I searched the apartment series & it does look fun. Cute covers. The pprbks in that series are also rather high, but the ebooks are reasonable. It appears that the Jonathan Island series has better ratings so far than the apartment one.

      6. Stephanandra bushes aren’t too labor intensive…if you know what you’re doing. I didn’t. I planted two on a slope on my front lawn and let them have at it. Great for that kind of area BUT they should occasionally be pruned. I never did until a few years ago (these guys are like fifteen years old now) and only to remove shoots that were encroaching on my pathways. You can cut back a whole third of the bush annually, if you’ve a mind to and clear out the dead limbs underneath the bush. This is the first year I’m doing that so it’s a lot more work than it would normally be. 🙂 Gardening is an ongoing learning experience…especially since I tend to learn by doing it wrong the first time. Bwahahaha!

Yeah, that apartment house series really tickles my fancy. Interesting that the Jonathan Island series has more ratings than it. I’ll have to delve deeper and decided which to read first.

      7. Gardening is definitely a learning experience & I’m glad hubby does the shrubs. If he didn’t, I’d be tempted to hire a gardener. We have someone who mows our lawn bc hubby just doesn’t have time to do all that during the day. I’m glad you’ve made good progress with yours & won’t have so much to do next spring/summer.

I started reading one of the books in the Jonathan Island series & found it to be boring. But each one is written by a different author. I didn’t mean that the Jonathan island series had more reviews than the apartment series because they just came out. But it seemed like the star ratings were higher. But I just looked at Courtney Walsh’s apartment building installment and it’s got over 1,400 4.6 star reviews!!

  2. I love looking for Christmas books! A nice cool day with fall vibes is the perfect time. This is the first time, that I can remember anyway, that we’ve done a Sunday with 3 choices. Fun!

I just happened upon this book recently and was excited to see it.

Jan Karon is back with the 15th Father Tim and Cynthia book, My Beloved. I didn’t think there would be anymore so I’m thrilled to see it.

Thanks for RCW in advance. I know that extra day to tally will help you so your brain doesn’t get fried. Sunday announcements it is!

  3. The other book I’m really looking forward to is The Christmas Book Flood by Roseanna White. It’s a Christmas novella at 175 pages, but sometimes in the busy season that’s just right.

It releases October 7th (My Beloved does too). In fact, that date has so many new releases it’s like a fall explosion of new books, and I’m here for it! 🙂

  4. I have 2 other books I’ll be reading on KU that might help other readers out. And you guessed it, both coming out on Oct. 7th!

The Bridge by Shanna Hatfield, looks like a new contemporary series.

Snowbound at Christmas by Lacy WIlliams and 3 others she’s mentored. Historical

Happy Christmas book hunting, I’m still looking too.

    1. I still haven’t started Jan Karon’s series! Sigh. No excuse since I’ve discovered my church library has all of the books. I guess I just get sidetracked by all the wonderful new releases coming out. 🙂 ;

The Christmas Flood Book was on my radar and I keep checking but it’s only listed as ebook and audio right now even though it’s a Tyndale publication. And it’s not on audible yet so….I’m getting anxious. Best get to distracting myself with the next best read!

The Bridge loos like a classic Christmas story and sounds quite different from the author’s usual style…at least I think she’s more known for her straight up romances. Happy Christmas book hunting right back at you, Tracey. And good luck!

  5. Checking my Love Inspired list I remembered Jill Kemerer’s book, The Rancher’s Mistletoe Baby. Jill writes the best Christmas books. That’s my 3rd choice, release date Oct 28th.

Have a wonderful Sunday evening and a fabulous upcoming week!

    1. A Very English Christmas novella collection by Carrie Turansky, Marguerite Gray, and Carole Lehr Johnson. I’m not sure if this counts because the Kindle releases on 9/29 and the paperback on 10/7. Strange!

      1. I’m definitely in the mood for a very English Christmas! As long as one of the editions comes out in October it counts. Too confusing otherwise. They used to release ebook and paperback editions about a week apart quite regularly but it doesn’t seem to be a thing anymore. Makes no sense to me! Good luck, Perrianne!

        1. Yes! Now if we could dip below 90 in the afternoon, I might feel more Fall-ish! I had no idea about the early Kindle copies, as I’ve only recently gotten a Kindle but use it mostly for Net Galley.

      1. I’m really looking forward to this one too, but it isn’t a Christmas story. At least, not if you go by the book blurb or the Amazon tags. It will definitely work for two other days in this week, just not this one.

    2. Still pretty warm in SC, but I am actually in MI visiting old friends for a few days. Not much cooler here! And the leaves are just starting to turn colors here.

      1. Oopsie, Pam, none of these books fit the Christmas fiction category — they will easily work into multiple other days this week, but today is limited to new Christmas fiction releasing in October, November and December. Feel free to suggest other titles.

    4. Oooooh…..I love novella sets for my Christmas reading and I see several have mentioned this one, so that’s my one & only choice this time around! Plus it’s Victorian/Regency which is my absolute favorite, especially during the holiday season!! I wished I could attend a Christmas ball, lol 😂

        1. I struggled finding a third Christmas book that wasn’t released in September. I’ll take my chances on book 5 of a series because I’ll bet that author combo will be fantastic!

        2. Yes, and I think they are savvy enough to make it a standalone. I’m guessing it’s going to be more the setting and secondary characters that will be common among the books with maybe cameos of earlier heroes and heroines. Not spoilers…at least I hope not!

      1. I haven’t read anything by Jennifer Peel but from what I gleaned from reading reviews for this one and some of her other books I don’t think it’s a fit. Clean-ish, but includes mild swearing and none of her other books (at least the ones I checked out, were tagged as ‘clean romance’ on GR and readers are usually good about including that…so I’m gonna say, choose another title.

      1. Count me intrigued. I do love a Christmas tree farm setting for a holiday book!!! And then you sent me down an internet rabbit hole and I found myself purchasing a Historical Christmas novella by Shaela Kay! It sounds like it has a Beauty and the Beast twist so I’m quite excited! Ahem, anyway, thanks for the introduction. Good luck, Heidi!
