September Giveaway – Week Two

Quick question before we get to the winners: Have you noticed your reviews disappearing on Good Reads? I keep stumbling across books I know I’ve read and positive I reviewed but GR says otherwise. Just noticed a Net Galley book review I posted recently wasn’t there and yet, when I checked my ‘feedback sent shelf,’ on NG there’s a GR reads link so obviously the review was up for a time. I’m so confused. And does this mean my number of books read is skewed now? Ack!

Okay, back to the business of the day:

Winners will be contacted if they left their email address, otherwise it’s up to the winner to contact me at kavluvstoread AT yahoo DOT ca (please note it’s ca as in Canada, not com.) From time to time a winner and I do not connect so I have a one month time frame on giveaway wins. If I haven’t been able to reach you within 30 days of your win, it will be forfeited. This has happened a few times now, so please, DON’T BE SHY — CONTACT ME IF YOU DIDN’T LEAVE AN EMAIL OR IF I HAVEN’T BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN REACHING YOU!

LOOKING AHEAD TO NEXT WEEK:

Conversations with Kav – a place for us to chat about bookish topics if anyone is so inclined. Sometimes there will be giveaways, sometimes there won’t. It will just depend on the topic of the day. Hope to see you there! Otherwise my inner book nerd and I will carry on by ourselves. Bwahaha!

  1. Happy reading winners! 📚🎉

Re reviews disappearing: hmm…I have not noticed this on GR, I’m going to go check the last few reviews I wrote. I have had it happen on Amazon a long time ago. Amazon owns GR so it wouldn’t be a stretch for them to do it. But why?

Were the reviews newer or older? I can’t imagine if they removed the review they’d take away the book as being read too. One thing I do when I post to GR is go directly to Netgalley and copy/paste it there, that way I always have a copy somewhere to refer back to.

    1. It’s so strange. And it’s newer ones that I’ve noticed. I haven’t done an exhaustive search but I keep stumbling on missing reviews and the books aren’t marked as read either so I’m guessing that would mean they’d be wiped from my ‘books read’ list has well? I have most of my reviews posted on other sights, including here, but I rely on GR to keep track of what point I’m at in cozy mystery series and that’s tripped me up a few times lately because though I’m sure I’ve read a book, GRs says no so I get the book only to realize that I actually have indeed read it! Grrr. And it’s worrisome because posting on GR for Net Galley reviews is expected and if I give them a link only the review vanishes…..well, that can’t be good.

  2. The last handful of reviews of mine are showing. I also looked at your page for 2025 books and it shows 336, does that seem right? You an go back and see number of books read in previous years by going into your reading challenge. Hope you figure it out!

    1. I rely on GR for that books read tally. I do keep a monthly one in my reading journal so, worse case scenario I can add them up. It’s just so strange. GRs has been a great way for me to keep track of my non Christian Fiction reads and the books I don’t post reviews on this blog. I’ll have to investigate – ohhhhh, it’s a mystery! The Case of the Purloined Reviews.

  3. I don’t think I read fast enough to notice goodreads glitches. That sounds so frustrating, though! Does the app need an update? That’s the only thing I can think of.

  4. interesting dilemma. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I checked my NG account feedback sent against my GR account reviews and they seem to match up With my blog as well.

I appreciate you bringing up this situation. I’ll definitely be paying more attention to see if reviews are disappearing.

I look forward to hearing the results of your investigation into your situation. Thank you for all you do

    1. Okay, you got me curious, so I went and looked at my own. I did find a book I knew I’d reviewed, but didn’t seem to have my review posted to it. After looking around, I realized that my review was only under the kindle version of the book. I didn’t realize that reviews only posted to specific versions, rather than just under the book in general🤷‍♀️

      1. I checked all the editions for the books missing reviews since I often listen to audio books but there is a way and forget how, but now when I write a review it does post on all formats. Don’t ask me what I did, cause I have no idea. They should be all grouped together for sure, otherwise it’s completely confusing to everyone! Gah!

      2. I checked goodreads reviews. There is a discrepancy between my number of reviews and my books I have read. I know I have rated some and not left a rev but around a thousand different???

You have to be careful because sometimes different editions are listed separately. And sometimes your reviews are posted on all but sometimes you can’t “switch to this edition “.
        Goodreads is a conundrum sometimes.
