Before we get started on the giveaways we have some Blog Business to cover so, skip to the winners if you must, but then come back and take note of some changes coming up.
- Thanks to Perrianne for an update about Baker’s Book House online changes. For some reason I did not get the email announcement but maybe you all did. Just in case you’re in the dark like me, here’s the details: Their website is getting an upgrade which is supposed to provide a ‘smoother shopping experience’ (YAY!) Unfortunately the new interface won’t carry over previous account history (kind of a drag for me) so make sure you save any receipts you still need before September 10th. Preorders will now need to be prepaid at checkout (I like this change – easier for me since I do so many preorders after RCW.) On September 11 when you go to sign in (hopefully the glitch is fixed and all of us can actually sign in!) you’ll get an email with a verification code which you’ll need to enter. As far as I understand, that will only be a one time thing.
- Possible changes in giveaway options. Due to tariffs and the US de minimis exemption having been suspended as of August 29th, there’s a chance I won’t be able to continue mailing my gently read books to the states. Right now it’s still duty free for gifts under $100 but my post office has told me everything is still evolving. For now, I can still mail them but – oy – I have to fill out an online duty claim ticket for each item. They’ll no longer do it at the post office. It’s a new system and there were glitches and no one seemed to have any answers (might be just that my phone is too old to work with the app.) Anyway – I managed to mail last week’s wins this morning thanks to a postal worker taking pity on me and inputting my info into her phone in order to get the QR codes necessary, but I won’t be able to do that again. I’m going back to the post office on Monday when a techie guy is going to be there and he might be able to trouble shoot my old phone problem. Anyway, all this to say that it’s more important than ever to take note of what edition the giveaway is available in for your country. It’s always written in red under the Giveaway Opportunity title. Also, remember to make note of the + Giveaway after the blog book review title – that’s the indicator that there will be a giveaway. Also, due to the increasing cost of books including ebooks, there might be fewer giveaways some weeks.

I was worried there wouldn’t be much interest – who knew there were so many book nerdy kindred spirits out there?! Congratulations to all those who got blackouts, well done! Thank you for the Bingo prompts, it was fun trying to fill them this summer. I hope Baker’s update fixes all your glitch problems. And, YAY, I am always shocked when I win something, but I am super excited. Thank you so much!!

It took me the longest time to finally read a holiday romance but it was fun trying! I’m hoping great things from the new Baker website — mainly the ability to log in. Bwahahaha!

Congratulations! Life is just getting too complicated when you can’t deal with a company or doctor’s office without an app. And there are those of us who have semi ancient phones (quick moving technology wise).

I think my iPhone is an 8? But it does everything I need it to do. Phone calls, text, listen to books, check instagram, email etc and search the internet. That’s all I need so I don’t see the need to continuously upgrade. I’ll wait until my daughter upgrades and then she’ll pass her old one on to me. 🙂

Congrats to all the blessed winners! Thanks, Kav, for the summer BINGO challenge! I read some great books this summer . . . some on purpose to fill the prompts . . . & others quite by accident that filled them. Fun, fun, fun! I started to mssg you to see if you got a Baker email, but got sidetracked when hubby caught the flu. I nursed him back to health for 5 days & I was so worn out! Methinks nurses are underpaid & under appreciated for sure! This “nurse” (ha!) is thankful hubby is now doing well & didn’t catch what he had!! Praise God!

Ah, sorry our husband had the flu but glad he is feeling better now, no doubt due to your excellent nursing! 🙂 I quite miffed with Baker for ghosting me — I give them enough orders! And I emailed them for technical help a couple of times! Humph! Hoping the upgrades work a mighty miracle and will let me sign in from my laptop again. Time will tell. So glad you enjoyed the Summer Bingo. I had so much fun too. And I feel like quite the nosy Parker with the satisfaction I got seeing what everyone was reading. Bwahaha!

Did you check your spam folder? That would be so rude of Baker to ghost you, of all people! 😲 That’s what I’m concerned about with the new upgrades. Will I have problems signing in? I didn’t really feel a need to save my orders. For what reason would I need to, I wonder? 🤔
