Reader’s Choice Giveaway – Summer 2025 Edition – Goal Reviews

Quarterly reading goal reviews have become a Best Reads Blog tradition. I’ll share my progress (or not!) here just for some fun, book nerdy stats and, if you’re so inclined, you can share a goal or two in the comments. But no pressure – a goal can be as simple as ‘read a book.’

So, to enter this giveaway, just share anything goal related in the comments. Then, in the same comment, list a book that will help you reach your goal. So it looks like this:

“I want to catch up on some suspense series. Night Prey by Susan Sleeman.”

NOTE: BOOKS MUST BE CHRISTIAN FICTION

You can enter up to three times in three separate comments — and you can use the same goal or a different one each time, but a different title for each entry.

Books can be published any time up through to September 2025. Currently published books will be ordered this coming week for winners, otherwise it will be an IOU for a title releasing later.

See? Easy Peasy. But if you’re still not clear, don’t be shy about asking questions.

So, half way through the year and this is how my goals are shaping up.

Overall not too bad. I’m on track to reach my Good Reads number goal and I managed to increase the number of indie books by a wee bit, still aiming for more though. Here’s what I’m going to concentrate on during the third quarter:

  • Even more Indie Books!
  • Look for Diversity in authors, characters, settings
  • Concentrate on my 3 Read to Zero authors and hopefully catch up with two of them – Hannah Linder and Irene Hannon. Sarah M. Eden is going to take a ten year plan. 🙂
  • Get more strategic with the series I want to complete. I’ve been doing this haphazardly and some of the series I really want to finish are getting overlooked.

  12. I am doing pretty good on my goals. I have finished 10 series this year, which I don’t think is too bad! I have read completed my goal for the Virtual TBR challenge (read 36 books), and I have read 36/48 of my own books. Obviously I have goals I am struggling with as well, LOL! One of the series I would like to complete is the Aveline series by Rae Walsh. I have read the first two books, but still need to read The Fire in our Hearth, that would be my pick. cilydav at hotmail dot com

  32. Your goals are much loftier than mine!  

    Goal #1:  I’ve become a bit intrigued by the “down to Zero Authors” trail that you led me down.  I’ll work on that.

    Goal #2:  I’m also wanting to continue on with Gabrielle Meyer’s Timeless series.  I’ll “treat” myself to an audio to read along with a paperback in order to savor and slow myself down.

    Goal #3:  Other than that, I only have 108 books on my “ultimate” TBR Wish List, so there’s that.  This is laughable since my best reading year that I kept track of was 2023 and I read 84 books.  I keep adding to that list.  Hopefully one day I’ll tame that beast!

    So my pick for Goal #1 is:

  39. Stats….
    I took a Quick Look at some graphs/stats on StoryGraph. I’ll be honest because I rarely fill out any of the stuff except my star rating and my own review. I don’t find their other stuff helpful or accurate. lol.

    I’m 60/40 with digital and audio. I haven’t read a hard copy yet this year. Even my current read is an audio from Everand but I actually have the paperback.

    It says my #1 genre is romance but I can’t say that I agree. I think it’s because so many are labeled romance even if it’s suspense. I do like a wide variety but I don’t have “a” favourite. I do not like fantasy, sci-fi, or some speculative. Just not my jam at all.

    I’ve only read fiction this year. I’m not focusing on NTM authors this year but I still have a reasonable number. I really indie and traditional. I just read what interests and to fill my many challenge prompts. I just saw a debut called Interesting Enough that looks interesting (pun intended!).

  41. 2 of 3 – I need to up my male-authored CF reads. I find it hard when there are so few males in comparison. Take out sci-fi and fantasy and there are even less! I’d like to read Safely Home by Randy Alcorn. I’ve read so many rave reviews.
