June New Releases + Giveaway

It’s a new Best Reads blog tradition! Celebrating the month’s new releases the first week of each month.

Because I recently discovered that a book’s success or failure is often determined by first month sales! (Though I bet preorders play into that as well.) Publishing houses look at those stats to determine whether they’ll add on to a series or accept the author’s next manuscript! All that literary goodness hanging in the balance but for a month’s worth of sales! (This was a cozy mystery author, but I imagine all traditional publishers use the same ‘system’.) So, I thought I should do my wee little bit to promote Christian Fiction.

By hosting a special “Hello — insert month” giveaway. It’s easy to play along. You just have to choose one of the June 2025 new releases on your TBR wishlist (must be Christian Fiction) and mention the title in a comment below (or email me at kavluvstoread AT yahoo DOT ca.) If your name is drawn, that June release is the book you will win and we’re one book count closer to keeping our fave authors in business.

  1. With Mercy’s Eyes by D. T. Powell releases June 16 (my anniversary!). It is a “Christian book addressing LGBTQ issues from a biblical perspective.” I feel like no one in the Christian community have had the courage to speak up and write about this issue and I am sure we will see many more fictional stories with this topic in years to come.

    1. Ooooh, I’d forgotten about this one. It comes highly recommended from a couple of readers who received early copies. I think it’s a debut novel as well. Good luck, Kimmy!

      1. Kav, there are so many books set in colonial America, but if I’m not mistaken this is the 1st I’ve read about the colonial unrest in Canada. So I learned a lot & some of it I skimmed (to be honest) bc well . . . me and historical details don’t mix. But I didn’t skim much of it & the plot was excellent!

      2. I know, that’s why I am so excited about this book! And skipping historical details? Shocking! says the reader who does that with the American Revolution and Civil War stories Bwahahaha!

  2. The TOP book on my list that I want on my shelf is “The Love a Beast” by Karen Witemeyer. I believe it releases on June 10th, and so far, I haven’t found it for sale anywhere but Amazon. I loveeee beauty and the beast retellings and the synopsis in that one PULLED me in! Thanks for the chance. Blessedmommy3x AT gmail DOT come

    1. I’m so thrilled that she’s continuing this series independently. Guess that’s why it’s only on Amazon. And Beauty and the Beast is one of my favourite fairy tales for retellings. Good luck, JoRuth!

  3. I had To Love a Beast on the top of my list, but I can get that on Kindle Unlimited. I don’t happen to have many other new releases on my June list, but I do have The Atlas of Untold Stories by Sara Brunsvold. It’s a book about a sisterly road trip, with books 🙂 Yes to both.

Thanks for the giveaway Kav! tracey14567 atgmail dot com

  11. Running late in answering, but yesterday was a LONG day and no computer. We left at 6 a.m. and drove south to put flowers out on our daughter’s, parent’s, grandparent’s, 2 uncle’s and an aunt’s gravesite. Finally had a day with no rain or storms predicted. After a little over 500 miles under our belts and 12 1/2 hours later, we got home to two furbabies insisting on all our attention. 🙂

If I were fortunate enough to be selected, I would love the opportunity to read UNSKAKEN by Shelley Shepard Gray. The release date was June 3, 2025. Thank you for the chance to win a copy!

  18. To Love a Beast by Karen Witemeyer because I KNOW the library won’t get it because it’s indie published.

Sorry to be so late, it’s been a challenging week.
