It’s a new Best Reads blog tradition! Celebrating the month’s new releases the first week of each month.
Because I recently discovered that a book’s success or failure is often determined by first month sales! (Though I bet preorders play into that as well.) Publishing houses look at those stats to determine whether they’ll add on to a series or accept the author’s next manuscript! All that literary goodness hanging in the balance but for a month’s worth of sales! (This was a cozy mystery author, but I imagine all traditional publishers use the same ‘system’.) So, I thought I should do my wee little bit to promote Christian Fiction.
By hosting a special “Hello — insert month” giveaway. It’s easy to play along. You just have to choose one of the March 2025 new releases on your TBR wishlist (must be Christian Fiction) and mention the title in a comment below (or email me at kavluvstoread AT yahoo DOT ca.) If your name is drawn, that March release is the book you will win and we’re one book count closer to keeping our fave authors in business.
GIVEAWAY OPPORTUNITY AVAILABLE TO:
ebook for anyone anywhere who has an Amazon.com kindle account
US – paperback or ebook copy — winner’s choice
Canada -paperback or ebook (in form of an Amazon gift card) or audible.ca audio book (if available) – winner’s choice
Draw will be held and winner announced on Saturday March 8 2025.
First, a plug for “The Disappearing Seat,” by Heather Holleman. I’m getting a review copy, so that’s not an entry comment but this is a title I’m highly anticipating!!!
Okay, my first entry: The Filling Station, by Vanessa Miller

The Disappearing Seat does look good. Love the cover and a new to me author. Thanks for the introduction! I have a Net Galley audio of The Filling Station that I will be listening to later this week. Eeeeep. Good luck, Stephanie!

Hello March, have I been waiting for your warmer weather 🙂
There are so many good books releasing this month. I’ve already preordered Welcome to the Honey B&B by Melody Carlson and The Novel Adventures of Natalie Daughtry by Susan Tuttle.
My MOST anticipated book is Break My Fall by Lynn Blackburn. I can’t wait to get back to Gossamer Falls and see what mischief Lynn has cooked up. Amazon is waiting so long to drop the prices, but I hope it’s in the next 2 weeks. 3/18
Thanks for the giveaway, Kav! tracey14567 at gmail.com

Ohhh, The Novel Adventures releases this month! How opportune that I just read the first book a few weeks ago. And, guess what I just happened to put on preorder yesterday? Break My Fall! Great minds think alike and all that. Good luck, Tracey!

Hello March!! It’s always such a gamble weather wise here, are we going to have tons of rain or more sunshine? Although, the other day I saw purple crocus flowers popping up in my yard….hopefully that’s a good sign!
Lots of great books popping up too, so many to choose from. I preordered Kate Landry Has a Plan by Rebekah Millet way back in December so I’m happily anticipating that….I can’t wait! I’m going with an old favorite author for this giveaway and picking “Hope’s Enduring Echo by Kim Vogel Sawyer. It’s been a while since I’ve read a book by her. Thanks for the chance to win it Kav!

Sigh — crocuses are such a distant hope. We had another dumping of snow over the weekend and the temps are still in the -20s today but they will be rising and it will get above 0 overnight and into tomorrow and then we’re going to get rain for the next few days! Crazy! It’s been a while since I have read a Kim Vogel Sawyer book – Hope’s Enduring Echo sounds wonderful Good luck, Trixi!

Hello March! I’m so excited you’re finally here! And good morning, Kav! There’s some good books releasing this month, but I believe I’ll choose:
Kate Landry Has a Plan by Rebekah Millet
(I enjoy books with a New Orleans setting & really loved her debut book even though I’m not typically a rom/com fan!)

New Orleans is a captivating setting that we don’t see often enough in our fiction. I can only think of a few cozy mysteries with that setting, though I’m sure I’ve read the occasional CF as well. Good luck, Diane!

Thanks, Kav! Author Valerie Fraser Luesse has one set in Louisiana called UNDER THE BAYOU MOON that I really enjoyed! She has a Southern women’s fiction coming out in April called THE LIGHT ON HORN ISLAND set in Mississippi that I’m really looking forward to. Some of her books are better than others, but this one DOES sound good!! Love the cover!!

Lol Diane, thanks for the vote of confidence. I have 5 contemporary already for Spring RC week, but only 1 historical and 1 suspense. I wonder if it’s just me or if there are fewer releases in the other categories?! Hm…this requires more investigating. I’m going to be watching to see what everyone else comes up with too.

Tracey, I’m depending on your investigative skills! lol Actually it’s not just you. I’ve noticed there are so few new releases on NetGalley & that’s where I usually go to research them. I’ve also come up with more contemporary than anything else, which is why my TBR looks so pitiful (although I do love contemporary!) We’ll also need to keep our eyes on Avid bc they seem to come up with a lot of Indies. Of course, when they start mentioning new Spring releases it’ll probably be after Reader’s Choice Week. 😄

Tracey, for some reason I always picture you with a magnifying glass in your hand and a deerstalker hat on your head as you set out on one of your clandestine biblio investigations. 🙂

Kav, like she belongs on a Nancy Drew book cover with her magnifying glass! Too funny. I’m the official bestreads theme songwriter who forgot to make a copy of our theme song. I’ll have to think of another but that one WAS pretty priceless. LOL! And very book nerdy!

Interesting – a new historical mystery from Amanda Flower. Unfortunately it’s not Christian Fiction so won’t work for this giveaway. Her Amish cozy mysteries feature a bit of faith content because of the Amish characters but all her other books don’t. Feel free to choose another book.
