February New Releases + Giveaway

HELLO FEBRUARY!

It’s a new Best Reads blog tradition! Celebrating the month’s new releases the first week of each month.

Because I recently discovered that a book’s success or failure is often determined by first month sales! (Though I bet preorders play into that as well.) Publishing houses look at those stats to determine whether they’ll add on to a series or accept the author’s next manuscript! All that literary goodness hanging in the balance but for a month’s worth of sales! (This was a cozy mystery author, but I imagine all traditional publishers use the same ‘system’.) So, I thought I should do my wee little bit to promote Christian Fiction.

By hosting a special “Hello — insert month” giveaway. It’s easy to play along. You just have to choose one of the February 2025 new releases on your TBR wishlist (must be Christian Fiction) and mention the title in a comment below (or email me at kavluvstoread AT yahoo DOT ca.) If your name is drawn, that February release is the book you will win and we’re one book count closer to keeping our fave authors in business.

  1. I love the first of the month… Hello February!

I’ve read Uneasy Street by Becky Wade and it’s fabulous, so my pick is for An Overdue Match by Sarah Monzon, it’s a book about books, and libraries and librarians, appearances and “judging a book by its cover”. Throw in some romcom humor and I’m all in!

Thanks for the giveaway Kav! tracey14567@ gmail dot com

    1. We are like-minded readers, Tracey. I just finished Uneasy Street — soooo good and that epilogue! And I have An Overdue Match on audible preorder. Love Sarah Monzon and the way she delivered depth with humour. Good luck!

    1. I am torn between two! But, since An Overdue Match is getting so much attention already, I will go for Grandma Ruth Doesn’t To to Funerals by Sharon Mondragon. Happy February, Kav! cilydav at hotmail dot com

    4. Talking prices yesterday and current events, as I was reading intro and some comments, note today that it has already been halted/postponed for one party who is taking positive/helpful security actions. A tool to spur needed action, so I personally am not terribly worried about price and shipping impacts re book hobby.

    5. Two favorite authors have releases early in the year, Laura Frantz and Sarah Sundin. I haven’t gotten my hands on Lars yet, but it released in January, so I will have to pick Midnight on the Scottish Shore.

    6. I’m going to choose Uneasy Street by Becky Wade. I’m getting behind on her books, and that must be remedied!

    7. My most anticipated February release is The Unraveling of Emlyn DuLaine by Lindsay A. Franklin. It sounds like such a bookishly delightful romp!
I think I missed the “Hello January” post😱 I don’t remember ever even seeing it! (But there was a lot happening at the onset of the year, so I should not be too surprised😅)

    8. Hello February! I’m picking Uneasy Street by Becky Wade. Our library doesn’t do indies so much. ☹️

Today is short sleeve weather! I’m shocked how cold it was for you on Sunday!

Thank you for all that you do.

      1. Its really cold and blizzarding today. Have just managed two short walks so far and hoping for a third but that wind is biting. The kind of wind that makes your eyes water and then your glasses fog and freeze up. lol Much more fun to stay inside to read. Good luck, Perrianne!

I’ll make sure I share it! As for me, I’m going to mention His Grace’s Governess by Jackie Killelea. What a gorgeous cover, and it’s a debut author. Support debuts!
