August New Releases Giveaway

It’s a Best Reads blog tradition! Celebrating the month’s new releases the first week of each month.

Because I recently discovered that a book’s success or failure is often determined by first month sales! (Though I bet preorders play into that as well.) Publishing houses look at those stats to determine whether they’ll add on to a series or accept the author’s next manuscript! All that literary goodness hanging in the balance but for a month’s worth of sales! (This was a cozy mystery author, but I imagine all traditional publishers use the same ‘system’.) So, I thought I should do my wee little bit to promote Christian Fiction.

By hosting a special “Hello — insert month” giveaway. It’s easy to play along. You just have to choose ONE of the August 2024 new releases on your TBR wishlist (must be Christian Fiction) and mention the title in a comment below (or email me at kavluvstoread AT yahoo DOT ca.) If your name is drawn, that August release is the book you will win and we’re one book count closer to keeping our fave authors in business.

    1. Ooohhh, happy early birthday! I’ve heard great things about this book — apparently it’s a bit of a Beauty and the Beast retelling? Can’t wait to see. Good luck, Blessed Mommy!

      1. She is the same author that wrote “The Letter Tree” and it was a cross between Romeo and Juliet and You’ve got Mail. Such an amazing author!

  2. Good morning, Kav! And hello August . . . you’re hot! 🔥 I read an ARC of Beyond Ivy Walls & it was super good. I still haven’t read:

    1. We’re under heat advisories again. Gah….but August means September is that much closer, 🙂 Glad to hear you enjoyed Beyond Ivy Walls — I requested the audio on Net Galley. Fingers crossed. Good luck, Diane!

      1. I totally feel for you. 😩 I love Sept & Oct! Our grass is super green in Aug, but in Sept my flower garden is overflowing in a vast array of colors. They’re pretty now, but haven’t spread or grown real tall yet.

I believe you’ll enjoy BIWs. It’s a cross between Beauty & the Beast, Jane Eyre (no wild wife in the attic!), and Rachel Fordham’s own original voice.

By Evening’s Light by Leslie Gould

Captured in Frame by Laura Thomas (love that thatched roof cottage on the cover!!)

  5. Hello August! Typically, hottest month of the year and then looking forward to September. I don’t think anyone has mentioned Saved by the Matchmaker by Jody Hedlund.

      1. This is quite a popular winner’s choice! I’m would choose Between the Sound and the Sea by Amanda Cox. It just sounds so magical? Releases on 8/6.

I am sorry you are suffering with the heat! Last week we had lots of rain and temps UNDER 90 degrees F. It was a lovely break that we usually do not get! Now we’re back up in the high 90’s, which is way better than the usual 100-115 degrees F. Try and stay cool!

  8. Hey Kav, our heat has gone back up again and it’s sweltering here in Virginia. I don’t want to go anywhere and do anything…so reading it is 😉

I’ve been waiting for Where Trees touch the Sky to release, only 2 weeks to go. Kregel just made the ebook an option but it’s a WEEK behind the paperback version. I wish the publishers would coordinate the release to match.

Thanks for the giveaway Kav and try and keep cool. This is one of the hottest summer’s I can remember! tracey14567 at gmail dot com

    1. It’s strange the way different formats release at different times. Makes no marketing sense that I can see. Argh to the heat…it’s horrid through the weekend. I need fall or air conditioning or both. lol Good luck, Tracey!

  9. Where Trees Touch the Sky would be my choice. It’s been on my wish list of upcoming releases for a while!

We were suppose to reach 94 degrees today! Heat advisories in effect. There is a big baseball tournament in town, and I can’t imagine being a player or a coach out in that heat.

    1. The heat is already unbearable without bring sports into it. Wonder what the temps have been like in Paris for the Olympics? I’ve been watching indoor events like gymnastics and swimming and trampoline. Way off topic but the heat has fried what little brain cells I had left. Good luck, Patty!

  10. You are certainly right, there ARE several good ones releasing this month! I’ve seen Beyond Ivy Walls by Rachel Fordham mentioned several times (I’m starting in on this one right now!), as well as Shield of the Mighty by Connilyn Cossette and Saved by the Matchmaker by Jody Hedlund. I’m on review teams for these three, so I’m excited for each of their releases😍

The one I’d love to enter for is Winter’s Maiden by Morgan L. Busse. I am sooooo looking forward to reading this one!
