It’s a Best Reads blog tradition! Celebrating the month’s new releases the first week of each month.
Because I recently discovered that a book’s success or failure is often determined by first month sales! (Though I bet preorders play into that as well.) Publishing houses look at those stats to determine whether they’ll add on to a series or accept the author’s next manuscript! All that literary goodness hanging in the balance but for a month’s worth of sales! (This was a cozy mystery author, but I imagine all traditional publishers use the same ‘system’.) So, I thought I should do my wee little bit to promote Christian Fiction.
By hosting a special “Hello — insert month” giveaway. It’s easy to play along. You just have to choose ONE of the February 2024 new releases on your TBR wishlist (must be Christian Fiction) and mention the title in a comment below (or email me at kavluvstoread AT yahoo DOT ca.) If your name is drawn, that January release is the book you will win and we’re one book count closer to keeping our fave authors in business.
GIVEAWAY OPPORTUNITY AVAILABLE TO:
ebook for anyone anywhere who has an Amazon.com kindle account
US – paperback or ebook copy — winner’s choice
Canada -paperback or ebook (in form of an Amazon gift card) or audible.ca audio book (if available) – winner’s choice
Draw will be held and winner announced on Saturday February 3 2024.
Hi, Kav! I’m interested in “A Lady’s Guide to Marvels and Misadventure!” 🙂 thanks for the giveaway opportunity:)

Eeeep!!! Yes, this is high on my want to read list. I though it didn’t release until March so super excited it’s coming out a month earlier than I thought. Good luck, Stephanie!

LOL, Kav. My secret goal this month was to keep up with you by half, but nope. I made it to 20 (and half of those were on the shorter side.)
You are going to ace your reading goal this year if you keep up that pace! 🙂

20 is fantastic! A few of mine were short reads too — one poetry book and a few novellas. And, of course, cozies are on the shorter side too. I usually read thirtyish a month so this was an unusual month for me BUT I was still sick at the beginning of the month so all I did was I listen to a lot of books! A lot! I signed up for an online membership with a library in a nearby town that has hoopla audio books ( mine doesn’t) and they gave me a temporary card and then sent me a permanent card. I’m allowed 4 audiobooks a month and chortled with glee when I discovered that the stats didn’t carry over to the permanent card when I made the switch so, of course, I had use up all 8 of ’em. 🙂 Then I aced out with Net Galley (thanks for mentioning that they do audio books) and I wanted to keep on top of those books. I’m feeling very industrious. 🙂

While The City Sleeps by Elizabeth Camden would be my choice. A great deal of interest in this one, as I read the comments. I did also notice that Jody Hedlund has a book publishing in February, Finally His Bride, another of the extended Bride Ships series.

I’m choosing Rocky Road for a Valentine’s Day release! Indie published is so difficult to get from our library these days. Mostly, and surprisingly they’ve done a MUCH better job with Christian fiction this year, except for indies. I have to be patient, because it takes them forever but they’ve been ordering them without me requesting them (for the most part). I feel very blessed! Oh yeah, I haven’t logged them all, but I think I read 8 books for January…..you’ve got me beat by miles.

My library is the same way. I think it’s because they order their books from jobbers — companies that warehouse books from various publishers — so it’s easy for the library to order from one place instead of 20 different ones. Anyway, indie books aren’t carried by jobbers so they have to be ordered individually and not all libraries will go to the bother of doing that. Anyway — I’m with you on Rocky Road! Gotta read that one asap. Good luck, Perrianne!

I’m still in a fantasy mood, lol, so I’ll go with Mortal Queens by Victoria McCombs.
Speaking of fantasy, have you heard that Morgan L. Busse is working on a new Viking fantasy series? I’m sooo excited! The series is called The Nordic Wars and the first book, Winter’s Maiden, will be releasing later this year, in August I believe🤩 (Cover reveal should be next week😃)
