My Review:

Squeeeeeeeepppppp! It’s official: Freddie & Grace are my favourite sleuthing couple ever and there better be more books in this mystery series or I will fall into the depths of bibliophile despair! Not only do I have an insatiable need to keep current with Freddie and Grace, but there are secondary characters who have become dear to my heart in these second and third books and I need to check in on them and their potential love interests. We need to start a ‘More Freddie & Grace’ campaign!

Ahem — back to my actual purpose here — this review: Did I enjoy this book? Positively, absolutely ADORED it! Fast paced, tons of banter, delectable toe-curling scenes (be still my heart…I’m still feeling the palpitations) and an intriguing Agathat Christie-ish mystery that was so much fun to try and figure out.

Indomitable Grace, of course, steals the show, saves the day and Frederick is more smitten than ever! I love the way her mind works — she’s funny and thoughtful and book-centric. Grace makes some lovely references to God being the author of our stories and I love that kind of detail which fits so perfectly with who Grace is and shares profound truth in a very natural way. So well done.

‘The Juliet Code’ is the third book in this series and, while you could easily read this one as a standalone, there are a few spoilers from previous books you may or may not pick up on. So, if you intend to read the other books, I’d suggest reading them in order to get the most bibliophile enjoyment.

    Like you, I’m clamoring for more Freddie and Grace!

    Putting on my Intrepid reporter hat, we’re in luck, Pepper announced late Dec on her FB page the next book in the series will be out in Oct 2024. It’s called The Mistletoe Prince. (His name is Prince Arran) It’ll be in a novella collection with Sheila Roberts and Kathleen Fuller from Thomas Nelson so get out your notebook!
    And a few teasers, Pepper says, “you can take a prince out of his castle…and land him in the middle of Mayberry? Well, that should be fun!” And in a post a couple of weeks ago she said, “You guys will get to meet him in October but, I’m happy to say, that Luke has a few cameos in this novella too – so we can catch up with what’s happening to, at least, ONE Edgewood 🙂”

    Isn’t that cool she’s combining the 2 series? Can’t wait to see how she pulls off a contemporary and a historical together! Happy reading Thursday to all!

    1. Now that I think about this, I’m guessing Prince Arran is the descendant of Freddie and Grace since their story is set in 1913 and the Edgewoods live in 2023. The plot thickens. I’ll have to wait until Oct to see if I guessed right.

    Some like it Scot. Isn’t that a great name for a romcom?!💕
    I know you love a Scottish hero, Kav, me too!

    So much to look forward to from Pepper, besides The Mistletoe Prince in Oct, Kizzie’s story, Hope Like Wildflowers, book 3 in the McAdams Family series will be out in Oct too!

    And of course Loyally Luke is out in May, I’ve read it. It ‘s probably my favorite of the 3 Skymar books.

    Pepper is really giving readers some great stories!📚💕🎉

      1. Yes, it’s on Netgalley so I grabbed it up with my greedy little hands 😁 I don’t know if they have it on audio but you might want to check it out. The male point of view had me laughing out loud.
        She announced the new Scot romcom on fb and Instagram today but I don’t remember it being a part of any series. You can see what she says about it on there since you’re on IG.

      2. Not on Net Galley audio yet. It’s likely still in production. There aren’t nearly as many Christian Fiction audio books on NG as there are ebooks but that’s kind of nice since it’s easy to keep up with the reviews this way. So far I’ve gotten approved for every CF audio book I requested but for one, so that’s cool. But I get antsy if I have too many in line. Right now I have four and I won’t get them all reviewed until the middle of February because of me posting ahead on my blog.

  12. As I am reading all the comments, it sounds like you are getting a nice mix of titles from NetGalley. Also, I hadn’t realized Pepper was so prolific. I have a couple of her books, and this sounds like a very good series.
