Reader’s Choice Week Winners – Summer Edition

Well, this was a fun week — and a distraction from the heat and smog! Thanks for sharing in the anticipatory joy of new releases! My wishlist is nicely plumped up now. 🙂

Before we get to the fun stuff, here’s some bibliophile nerdy stats for you. I always find it fascinating to see what the most requested books are in each category. If you don’t, just scroll down until we get to the part where I announce the winners.

And now it’s time to move into the part of this post you will be most interested in (and I thank you for indulging in my bibliophile nerdiness.)

READERS CHOICE WEEK, SUMMER EDITION, WINNERS!

HISTORICAL FICTION WINNERS!

CONTEMPORARY WINNERS!

MYSTERY/SUSPENSE WINNERS!

AMISH WINNERS!

GENERAL CHRISTIAN FICTION WINNERS!

But wait, it’s not over yet. The Vanity category has become a blog tradition. It’s where a book is actually judged by its cover and I choose my favourite cover art per genre and then draw from a pool of readers who requested that title. Here are my COVER LOVE winners!!

HISTORICAL COVER LOVE WINNER

(My eye is drawn to the lavender hues and I love the image of the heroine looking over her should…she looks like she has spunk and sass to spare and I can’t wait to meet her!)

CONTEMPORARY COVER LOVE WINNER

(I love the playfulness in this cover — and the way the hero is all tangled up in lights makes me think it won’t be long before his heart is all tangled up too. 🙂 Plus, I love the way the title creates the Christmas tree. Very clever.)

MYSTERY/SUSPENSE COVER LOVE

(You might think this is a rather plain cover to win my high esteem…and you might be right but I think I’ve been influenced by the horrid hot humid weather we’ve been having. Hello, Canada Day is being celebrated with sever thunderstorms and tornado warnings (!) in my neck of the woods and every time it rains, the humidity gets worse. All that to say, I find that lovely icy cool cover refreshing…)

AMISH COVER LOVE

(Heroine wearing glasses on the cover for the win!!! That’s all I’m gonna say.)

WAIT! Don’t go away ’cause we’re not through. We have another Reader’s Choice tradition of picking a random number which becomes a ‘just because giveaway’ on the genre specific days. If that doesn’t make sense, all you need to know is that it means more book giveaways. Woohoo! This time the number is: 65

HISTORICAL 65TH

CONTEMPORARY 65TH

MYSTERY/SUSPENSE 65TH

That’s another RC wrap up. I’ll send winners an email stating their book win, publication date and requesting contact info so that I’ll have everything ready for release day. Then I’ll email you once again once the book has been ordered. Oh — and if you didn’t include your email in your comment it’s up to you to contact me. 🙂

LOOKING AHEAD TO NEXT WEEK’S GIVEAWAYS:

Phew — you still have some choices to make for most of this week as well:

MONDAY: Carol Awards Semi-Finalists 2023 – Historical Romance

  1. Happy Canada Day, Kav! Sorry about the smog & heat. 😔Terribly humid in SC, but thankfully no smog.
Congrats winners! What a especially fun week this was & I do believe there are more summer releases than I originally thought! I’m so thrilled to have won COUNTDOWN! Oh, that cover! Thanks so much, Kav, for your generosity & hard work!

      1. Bwahahaha! Grammar and I (or is it grammar and me?) are no friends…are not friends…maybe we’re enemies. lol You can keep your humidity, Diane. I’m done with summer and it’s only the first of July!

      2. How about you and grammar “ain’t” friends? That’s how they’d say it in the South & nobody thinks twice about it. lol You poor dear…but think about your looong, cold, treacherous winters! I’ll take the heat over cold any day. I can at least cool off w/ air con, but in the winter I get cold to my bones & can’t get warm!

  4. Happy Canada Day! I just finally flipped my calendar over to the next month, and it has US and Canadian holidays shown. Thank you very much and happy reading to all! RCW was a nice distraction and an always fun project. You, I know, have been miserable with the smog and heat and we have recently here hit a record high for dew point…..plus others have made similar comments regarding humidity. Books are such a wonderful escape!

  6. The Christmas Quilt ‼️ Thank you. This special week is so looked forward to, sharing all our hopeful new reads by our favorite authors and new-to-us! Exclamations of, “Oh, I missed that one!” As we share titles of those to come ~ can we believe the next quarter will be the end of the year already? EnJ*O*Y summer. Thank you, Kav, for the fun and connecting together as returning friends. Kathleen ~ Lane Hill House

  7. Congratulations to all the very fortunate winners. It was a crazy busy week for me outside the realm of reading and book fun. So I missed all this. But I’m still glad it available to read how you all
did. Well done Kav it’s a pleasure to be part of this group even though I missed this week.
