My Review:

I’m a tad shy of giddy over discovering a new-to-me author writing in one of my favourite genres! And this is the first book in a new series, so what an opportune time to jump onto the Martha Keyes bandwagon! I’ll be singing her praises with gusto forevermore, because this book is that good.

An enemies to more trope written in spectacular fashion. It’s a brilliant battle of wills that is only exceeded by a battle of wits — and the two combined make for such a fun read! If I wasn’t laughing hysterically, I was furiously fanning myself and then, when things really heated up, it was all swoon and repeat until the very end. My fainting couch got a real workout so I suggest you dust yours off and check the springs before starting in on The Art of Victory. (Such a clever title too!)

So, I just checked the author’s webpage and she not only writes Regency Romances — she writes Scottish (Historical) ones too. Eeeeeepppppp!!!! I’ll be happily playing catch up for awhile.

  7. My Regency loving heart is all a twitterpatted in anticipatory delight at the sound of this one!! Gah…seriously can’t get enough of this genre 💖 I popped over to Goodreads and found a whole series that I must devour soon-ish (Sons of Somerset), especially “The Highwayman’s Letter”. I forgot I was eyeballing that one a while ago. Swoonworthy heroes? Yes please!!

    1. No, no, no!!! Don’t distract me from my quest to completely catch up on Sally Britton’s Regencies by tempting me with a Martha Keyes series that follows five brothers!!!!! Gah, too late, I’m a goner. Good luck, Trixi! (we Regency lovers need to stick together and nuture our flighty tendencies to find new sources of our passion.)

  12. I read the first book in her Scottish highlands series and enjoyed it, but haven’t gotten around to the rest of the series. I think that’s the only one I’ve read of hers.
    The Art of Victory sounds fun and a bit more lighthearted.

    1. You know, now that I’m thinking about it, purple hasn’t been a popular colour in book covers before now — or at least I haven’t noticed it as much. I wonder if it’s a trend? Good luck, Kay!
