Reader’s Choice Week Spring 2026 Winners

Phew! What a week! Thanks so much for participating in the Best Reads’ Spring edition of Reader’s Choice Week! My TBR lists are plumped up with tantalizing new titles thanks to everyone’s input. I might spend as much time plotting my reading future as I do actually reading! Decisions! Decisions! 🙂

And my aplogies for getting this post up so late in the day. My eyeballs gave out on my yesterday – too much screen time = ocular migraines which isn’t as painful as it sounds. More annoying. I get flashing lights and fuzzy vision which makes it hard to do any focus work. I got the gist of the tallying done in stints yesterday but I wanted to double check the results today when I was more clearheaded. Only I forgot that we had our AGM after church this Sunday so I was later getting home than usual which delayed my double checking. But it’s all done now so…tada…here are the results!

First, I had to satisfy my inner book nerd and tally up all the titles in each genre to find out the popular pick for each one and here they are:

AND NOW FOR THE REST OF THE RCW WINNERS!

But wait, it’s not over yet. The Vanity category has become a blog tradition. It’s where a book is actually judged by its cover and I choose my favourite cover art per genre and then draw from a pool of readers who requested that title. Here are the COVER LOVE winners!

Eye catching! Love the sense of movement conveyed through the heroine’s cloak and hair. And the Celtic knots that frame the scene are exquisite and remind me of Ireland.

I mean, who can resist a silhouette in a graveyard? Especially with a title like that. And I love the classic cut to the heroine’s outfit.

I’ve got to be honest, it’s hard to not see that tantalizing word ‘highlands’ in the title which is a big draw for me. Mind you I love the fall vibes on this cover — the cozy ambience inside complete with two furry companions and the autumn splendour outside.

I like this cover because it’s unique – very striking with he black and gold and I desperately need to know if the gold is foil or embossed. I might be disappointed if it isn’t either or. 🙂

WAIT! Don’t go away ’cause we’re not through yet. We have another Reader’s Choice tradition of picking a random number which becomes a ‘just because giveaway’ on the genre specific days. If that doesn’t make sense, all you need to know is that it means more book giveaways. Woohoo! This time the number is 48.

And that’s another wrap on a glorious Reader’s Choice Week. Thanks for participating and growing my wishlist!

I’ll start contacting winners tomorrow, but if you haven’t left an email or if you are so inclined, you can send me an email listing your preference of either paperback or ebook and your contact info. kavluvstoread AT yahoo DOT ca

Conversations With Kav – Olympics Readathon Results

What a thrilling month full of Olympic excellence both on the track/rink/slopes and in the pages of all the books we read. And, as I mentioned before, I got a real kick out of seeing what all of you were reading. Even discovered some new-to-me authors to check out so thank you all for participating and sharing the book love.

And fun fact: a lot of us were reading the same books or authors! Jody Hedlund, Pepper Basham and Laura Frantz were quite popular. It looks like Historical is the favourite genre, no surprise there. 🙂 I’ve made an attempt at tracking all the books but I may have missed a few, so my apologies if I missed one of your Olympic Reads.

The Nerdy Stats

I know, I know, this is all really fascinating but what you really want to know is who the winners are, right? Well, here they are:

Olympian Readathon Champions!

Congratulations, ladies and thank you to everyone who participated in the Readathon! May all our futures be full of Best Reads!

February Giveaway – Week Three

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!

It’s sunny and warm(ish) and I’m celebrating finally feeling better by going for a walk this afternoon. Woohoo! And I actually made it to the post office yesterday to mail the five (!) books I still owed. So sorry for the delay in getting them out. Everyone should get their books in about a week or so…except for the one headed for Australia – that will be 2-3 weeks. The US has changed the declaration forms…again…making things a bit more complicated but, hopefully all the books will make it to their destinations without incident! Fingers crossed!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THIS WEEK’S WINNERS!

January Giveaway – Week Five

Alas, I fell victim to a noxious virus and have been languishing all week. Seriously, 8 days and nary a step out of my house and I don’t even miss the walks or the fresh air (helps that it’s been super cold and snowy all week.) Anyway, I’m afraid because of that, I let most of the wins from last week slide and I haven’t made it to the post office either and I’m not sure if I’ll get there this week. All I’ve been good for is listening to audio books and bingewatching Midsummer Murder episode. 🙂 By my calculations, I still owe:

Paula – your copy of The Golden Braid, the week I got your address it was bitterly cold and then I got sick so no trekking to the post office for me.

Angie, Rebecca and Caryl – you won the gently read books , A Beautiful Love (Angie) Snow on the Tulips (Rebecca) and One Nine (Caryl) – I never sent notifications. Would you mind emailing me your mailing addresses and I’ll get the books packaged up to mail once I’m feeling up to the walk to the post office?

And Marian Baay, you won Love in the Castle Library – your choice of paperback (if in US) or ebook — could you send me your contact info as well? This one I can at least order right away.

My contact info is: kavluvstoread AT yahoo DOT ca

Thanks so much!!!!

If you are looking for book with an Italian setting for the Bingo Olympics Readathon, Diane Flowers discovered a nifty one: Runaway Tide by Julie Carobini – a contemporary romance. And I thought of the Waterfall series by Lisa Bergen – a time travel series set in Italy.
