Quarterly reading goal reviews have become a Best Reads Blog tradition and I can’t believe we’ve reached the last quarter already! Where does the time go, I wonder? Hours spent reading I’m guessing. 🙂
I’ll share my progress (or not!) here just for some fun, book nerdy stats and, if you’re so inclined, you can share a goal or two in the comments. But no pressure – a goal can be as simple as ‘read a book.’
So, to enter this giveaway, just share anything goal related in the comments. Then, in the same comment, list a book that will help you reach your goal. So it looks like this:
“I want to catch up on some suspense series. Night Prey by Susan Sleeman.”
NOTE: BOOKS MUST BE CHRISTIAN FICTION
You can enter up to three times in three separate comments — and you can use the same goal or a different one each time, but a different title for each entry.
Books can be published any time up through to December 2025. Currently published books will be ordered this coming week for winners, otherwise it will be an IOU for a title releasing later.
WINNER’S CHOICE OF PAPERBACK OR EBOOK FOR US AND CANADIAN ENTRIES. EBOOKS ONLY FOR INTERNATIONAL READERS WHO HAVE A US KINDLE ACCOUNT.
See? Easy Peasy. But if you’re still not clear, don’t be shy about asking questions.
Here we go! Time to face up to what’s been working and what hasn’t when it comes to my goals this year.

Overall, I’ve done fairly well on my goals so far…with a few exceptions. I did manage to increase the number of indie books by a wee bit this past quarter, still aiming for more though.
And my Read to Zero Authors! Oy! I read one Hannah Linder, have Garden of the Midnights on hold at my library so that just leaves two books left (counting her new release in November.) Surely I can manage that by the end of the year! I got sidetracked with Irene Hannon when I decided to reread the whole Hope Harbor series which means I’ve only read two of her Encore edition books so far. Think I still have twelve books to go! I’ve almost given up on Sarah M Eden. Too many books to read before the end of the year. I think she’s going to become a five year plan! I did read The Best-Kept Secret (Huntresses #3) so at least I’m working on it! And I went and added two more authors to the list – Annah Conwell (7 books left) and Gracie Ruth Mitchell (11 books left) because…well…just because! 🙂
Alas, my attempt to focus on completing series has been surpassed by my compulsion to start new series so….that’s a goal well and truly failed. 😦
Okay, that’s enough nerdy stats stuff. Let’s get on with the giveaway!
Share below and remember to include a book title that will help you achieve any kind of reading goal. You can enter three times in three separate comments using the same goal or different ones. What ever strikes your fancy. Just make sure each entry is for a different title.
DRAW WILL BE HELD ON
Saturday September 27 2025
AND WINNER ANNOUNCED ON
Sunday September 28 2025
(You can enter any of the giveaways up until noon EST on Saturday September 27. Winners will be announced on Sunday September 28 which is a bit of a switch from previous RCWs. It’s just to give me a little more time to do all the tallying and setting up the blog post.).

Yay for trying out a cozy mystery. I really love that series — in fact I need to read it again. Love those characters! The House for Lost Children is such a memorable book! Good luck, Kathleen!

You are doing good with your goals! I love Annah Conwell and Gracie Ruth Mitchell! The goals I am not doing as well with are reading more male authors and complete more series. I have completed 16 series this year, so not bad…One book I haven’t read is Where the Last Rose Blooms by Ashley Clark, it is the last one I need to finish the Heirloom Secrets series. cilydav at hotmail dot com

I’m the same with male authors. I won’t even make that a goal anymore. 🙂 Though I do have one Christmas story weiting on my TBR so…we’ll see. Good luck, Cindy!

Now let’s work on reading more male authors…how about The Choice by Robert Whitlow…maybe I will discover a new-to-me author to love! Have you read anything by him?

Chunky books can definitely be a goal….but not mine! lol Those are all 500 page chonkers, Elly! I won’t say I’d never read a book that long but there has to be a reason for the story to be that long…like not just a bunch of filler scattered throughout to make it longer. If that makes any sense. I’ve noticed that fantasies tend to be chunky and that makes sense because so much page time has to be given over to world building in order for the story to make sense. But a 500 page romance….nope…if they can’t seal the deal in around 350 pages they just aren’t meant to be together. They should both move on to other stories. Bwahahaha! Good luck, Elly!

Haha! I definitely see your point with that😂 I agree, most of the bigger books are fantasy, so they’re combining world-building, adventure/quests and (if they’re romantasy) ALSO a romance, so their page-count is usually warranted. Fortunately for me, I’m a big fantasy fan, so I can get my fill of long books in that genre😉

I’m doing fairly well with my goals except that I just can’t read as fast as I used to. Goodreads says I’m at 70% of my goal of reading 115 books for the year but I’m 3 books behind schedule to meet my goal. I have kept up with my book club reading, plus Karen Witemeyer’s Posse Challenge. I added a challenge to myself to participate in the What the Dickens online classics book club. I’m keeping up with this but did have one book that I had to give up on about halfway through. The vast majority of my reading is visual, with the majority being paper books. I didn’t keep records but would guess I read slightly more historical than contemporary.
The Fur Trader’s Lady by Gabrielle Meyer is a book that would help me meet the Posse’s October challenge of reading a book with a man on the cover.

Reaching 70% on your Good Reads goal is awesome, Pam! I find it takes me longer to read print books now too, depending on the font size and the overall page layout. I have vision problems though, so I’m guessing that’s why. Audio books are such a blessing for me because of that. But, my oh my, I do so love to curl ups with a good book and read to my heart’s content!
I didn’t know Karen Witemeyer has a reading challenge! That’s very cool. And an online classics book club sounds intriguing too…though sometimes I get impatient with the long winded storytelling of the past. Gasp, did I actually say that outlaid?! Good luck, Pam!
PS I did not know that Liz Johnson had any indie books out! I might have to read Sidelined by Love, even if it is about football! Right season for it though.
