It’s a new Best Reads blog tradition! Celebrating the month’s new releases the first week of each month.
Because I recently discovered that a book’s success or failure is often determined by first month sales! (Though I bet preorders play into that as well.) Publishing houses look at those stats to determine whether they’ll add on to a series or accept the author’s next manuscript! All that literary goodness hanging in the balance but for a month’s worth of sales! (This was a cozy mystery author, but I imagine all traditional publishers use the same ‘system’.) So, I thought I should do my wee little bit to promote Christian Fiction.
By hosting a special “Hello — insert month” giveaway. It’s easy to play along. You just have to choose one of the October 2023 new releases on your TBR wishlist (must be Christian Fiction) and mention the title in a comment below (or email me at kavluvstoread AT yahoo DOT ca.) If your name is drawn, that September release is the book you will win and we’re one book count closer to keeping our fave authors in business.
GIVEAWAY OPPORTUNITY AVAILABLE TO:
ebook for anyone anywhere who has an Amazon.com kindle account
US – paperback or ebook copy — winner’s choice
Canada -paperback or ebook (in form of an Amazon gift card) or audible.ca audio book (if available) – winner’s choice
Draw will be held and winner announced on Saturday October 7 2023.

Only one entry for this giveaway, Winnie (I know that’s confusing coming off the whirlwind of a Reader’s Choice Week.) I’m going with this one — unless you let me know to switch with one of your other choices.

Ok color me confused! The description under HOW? states to post a September release book. However, this is October and says it’s October release books. That being the case, I’m listing a book for both months for the one allowed to be used. Hope this is ok because I didn’t want to do it wrong or be disqualified because I posted the wrong month. I’m pretty sure that the October one is the right one. If so, just disregard the September book.

I’d never disqualify you, Kay, just nudge you in the right direction. Bwahahaha. And it was my goof. I caught it early on and made the switcheroo from September to October, but I couldn’t catch up to you early birds it seems. 🙂 Good luck, Kay — Into the Fire it is.

Against the Wind by Amanda Cabot, October.
Just FYI for those who like Jen Turano – I noticed each book in her Bleeker Street Inquiry series is $1.99 on sale for Kindle.
Also, I just finished a good book yesterday by an unknown to me author, Michael Winstell, called Destiny in the Dust Storm. It appears he will have another book in the series entitled Faith in the Floodwaters, publishing possibly on October 17, but I don’t find it officially listed on Amazon yet. Since this is to help authors, I would have used it. I infer publishing through Amazon. If anyone happens to look at that Destiny book on Amazon, don’t read the first listed review, as it has a bad spoiler . Evidently, he also writes Christian speculative fiction under another name.

You have me all kinds of intrigued…of course I went and read that first review — gah — spoiler alert is right! Why didn’t I listen to you?!!! Why do people do that????? Still, it has great reviews and I liked the second review where they say they are surprised because it’s written by a man and they don’t have many male authors they enjoy — and bam, she gave the book five stars and has put Michael Winstell on her short list of modern male authors. How neat is that?
I went over to his website and it has a banner that says says the second book is releasing on the 17th so, even though it’s not on Amazon yet (often the case with indie books) we can count that one for your entry if you’d rather. Just let me know if you’d like to switch. Good luck, CC

We can just leave the Amanda Cabot rather than change, but I have just set up to follow him on Bookbub so I can be notified when he does actually publish.

That one has been pushed into November or December, the author doesn’t know yet. I can still take this as an entry since it hasn’t officially been announced it’s not releasing in October — it’s confusing. Or you can go ahead a pick an October title and save this one for a later month. Oh — and I just got the prequel to this series in the mail yesterday. Excited to start in on a Chautona Havig series. I’ve only read two of her multiple authored island series books.
