Well, this was a fun week! My head is spinning with all the new bookish possibilities. Thanks for sharing in the anticipatory joy of new releases! My wishlist is nicely plumped up now. 🙂
Before we get to the fun stuff, here’s some bibliophile nerdy stats for you. I always find it fascinating to see what the most requested books are in each category. If you don’t, just scroll down until we get to the part where I announce the winners.
MOST REQUESTED HISTORICAL FICTION (it’s a tie!):
The Letter Tree by Rachel Fordham
AND
Calling on the Matchmaker by Jody Hedlund
MOST REQUESTED CONTEMPORARY FICTION:
A Million Little Choices by Tamera Alexander
MOST REQUESTED MYSTERY/SUSPENSE FICTION:
Into the Fire by Irene Hannon
MOST REQUESTED AMISH FICTION:
The Passing Hour by Leslie Gould
And now it’s time to move into the part of this post you will be most interested in (and I thank you for indulging in my bibliophile nerdiness.)

The Lost Boys of Barlowe Theater by Jaime Jo Wright won by KIMMY!
But wait, it’s not over yet. The Vanity category has become a blog tradition. It’s where a book is actually judged by its cover and I choose my favourite cover art per genre and then draw from a pool of readers who requested that title. Here are my COVER LOVE winners!!
HISTORICAL COVER LOVE WINNER!
I’m not a huge Biblical Fiction reader but this cover makes me want to change that. There’s something about the contrasting colours that bring depth to the image and make me want to stand right beside the heroine and step out on her journey with her!

The Peasant King by Tessa Afshar won by TRACEY!
CONTEMPORARY COVER LOVE WINNER!
This cover makes me want to cozy up with a cup of hot cocoa and this book and snuggle in for an exciting read. Love the soft tones in blue and gray and the sparing pops of colour. All kinds of appealing.

Better Watch Out by Natalie Walters won by ELIZABETH LITTON
MYSTERY/SUSPENSE COVER LOVE WINNER!
Dark and ceepy, this cover promises thrills and chills and it releases on Halloween!

The Bungalow on Shadow Road by Christy Barritt won by MARK BUZARD!
AMISH COVER LOVE WINNER!
A refreshing update on the typical Amish cover (back view of heroine looking out across a field.) Seeing that big grin on her face as she cuddles her kitty (dare I assume his name is Gingersnap?) just makes me want to dive right into the story.

Ruth’s Ginger Snap Surprise by Anne Blackburne won by CINDY DAVIS
WAIT! Don’t go away ’cause we’re not through. We have another Reader’s Choice tradition of picking a random number which becomes a ‘just because giveaway’ on the genre specific days. If that doesn’t make sense, all you need to know is that it means more book giveaways. Woohoo! This time the number is: 31
HISTORICAL 31st

The Letter Tree by Rachel Fordham won by CARYL KANE
CONTEMPORARY 31st

Clock Tower Bound by Chautona Havig won by TAMMY!
MYSTERY/SUSPENSE 31st

Children of the Shadows by Erica Vetsch won by SLYVIA MILLER!
AMISH 31st

Happily Ever After on Huckleberry Hill by Jennifer Beckstrand won by HEIDI!
That’s another RC wrap up. I’ll send winners an email stating their book win, publication date and requesting contact info so that I’ll have everything ready for release day. Then I’ll email you once again once the book has been ordered. Oh — and if you didn’t include your email in your comment it’s up to you to contact me.

As much as I have so many books still to read from previous RCW, I still look forward to adding more titles to my growing wishlist.

I’m thrilled to win The Peasant King! I know it will be fantastic, everything Tessa does is awesome. You really should give her a try!
I held off for years reading biblical fiction thinking it would mess with my memory of the scriptures, but that was the furthest thing from the truth. If anything, it enhances my understanding of the time period and customs of the day. This book is second in the series so if you decide to read Tessa, you may want to start with the first book, The Hidden Prince 5+ stars!
Congratulations to all the book winners and happy reading! 🙂

Okay — you convinced me. I’ll get brave. My library has The Hidden Prince so I put a hold on it. And Audible Plus (which means free to members has) Bread of Angels, Land of Silence, Daughter of Rome and Until the Mountains Fall…so no excuse for me to delve in somewhere!

I’m excited for you to read Tessa’s books!
I would read The Hidden Prince first so you’ll be ready for The Peasant King in Nov.
If you then backtrack her books I would look for The Thief of Corinth next before Daughter of Rome and then Jewel of the Nile, all 3 “can” be standalones but there are recurring characters that will make you enjoy them more in that order.
Land of Silence is an amazing story (check out my Goodreads review)
In the Field of Grace was my first book (Ruth retelling) and the one that hooked me.
Harvest of Gold, then Harvest of Rubies go together, fantastic!
Oh just plan to read them all!!! Lol!
FYI-Until the Mountains Fall is Connilyn Cossette’s book and 3rd in series. I wouldn’t read that without reading the other 2 first.

Okay, taking notes here. My library has The Thief of Corinth so put that one on hold too. I went to check out your Good Reads review for Land of Silence and discovered that I read that book earlier this year!!! Funny, don’t recognize the cover at all. And you’re right, it’s an amazing story…so why have I been so hesitant about reading more of her books? — And woohoo — I actually have read the first two City of Refuge books by Connilyn Cossette so I’m all set for Until the Mountains Fall…so what am I waiting for? I have no idea!
