My Review:

Oh my — gobsmacked over this emotional romance that tugged at my heart and buoyed up my spirits. I got teary-eyed on page 24 and that wasn’t the only time during this read. Witt’s story is so…gah, I can’t say anything without sharing spoilers so all I will say is you’d have to have a heart of stone to not feel a connection with this hero!

And the whole idea of a dog sanctuary, where aging, ailing or ‘unadoptable’ dogs can find a fur-ever home. Well, there goes the waterworks again! But Maddie has been struggling to bounce back from some losses and the sanctuary is perilously low on funds. She needs a miracle and that might just be Witt. You’ll have to read the book to find out.

This Love Inspired features ‘older’ (than the norm, anyway) characters. Witt is fifty-one and Maddie is in her mid forties or so. I was surprised at how much depth that brought to the story because that’s a lot of life lived, mistakes made, struggles to overcome…well, it just made this romance that much richer. And the redemptive faith thread is so beautiful.

Absolutely stunning addition to the multi-authored K-9 Companions series.

  2. “A Steadfast Companion” has so much going for it even before I read the description or your review. How can you go wrong with both mountains and dog on the cover? Then you add it’s K-9 story which I love reading. On top of this, it’s a LI book with romance thrown in. These things alone would have me picking up this book for a closer look.

    Then you read the write up and your review and I’m like this is must read for sure. Love a story that brings all of your emotions to the surface. Plus having worked once in placing the unplaceable dogs, I’m sure it will be exceptionally touching to me.

  3. Kay took the words right out of my mouth! 😁 I totally agree with everything she said right down to the heart tugging place for “un-placeable” dogs, that is SO appealing!

    I’ll just throw in the fact that these two are older characters, that’s something I absolutely adore in a story….because well, I am 52 and I can relate to characters who are more my age. Life experiences, mistakes made & learned from and struggles overcome (or need to be) adds a whole different dimension!

    Your review (as always) has compelled me to put this on my must-read-now list! You’re a book recommending rock star Kav 😁😍
